Default Matching paint code

I found a couple of colors I'm considering, found the paint codes using the VIN numbers of cars which caught my eye, bought some 1 pint samples.
The colors are for 2020 or 2021 BMW, Phytonic Blue and Tanzenite Blue, metallic.
I did consider a vintage color, Bridgehampton Blue, but found I like the shifting color I see with modern formulations.

Frustrating part is I'm certain I have the color name and code right, checked a few times, looked up the VIN numbers, got the names and factory code for the paint.
When I look at the spray panels, they appear darker than the cars I looked at.
Even went back to a dealer lot, found one of the VINs, placed to spray out card on top of the car in direct sunlight.
Doesn't match, close but the sample is darker.

One color looks predominantly black when viewed straight on but shifts to deep blue when viewed at an angle.
The viewing angle is a bit narrow before it shifts back to black.
This is not what I observed when viewing this color at a dealer lot, it appeared to be predominantly blue, shifted to black in low light, shadows.

This leads me to wonder whether the spray samples are off, poor mix, or the formula is off.

I don't know how many coats were sprayed when the spray panels were done.
Would a thin coat change the way the paint looks at different angles?
Might spraying technique have an effect?
I love the colors I saw on the dealer lot but hesitate to commit based on what I see on the spray panels.

I'm told these colors have a lot of pearl in them...
