Default QUICK JACK FAIL how bad is it?

BAD DAY on saturday on my c6z06, my quick jack on pass side bled down on me out of no where , i just took hood off and was about to lock the jacks and other side cylinder locked up and the car fell of on the pass side but kicked the rubber bolck threw the bottom panel and fender of drivers side which is cf , im sick ,the car was perfect very long story and i was alone in a hell of a shape and could of ben worse ,luckily i got the wheels back on before it fell off , longest 4-5 mins of my life! what you guys think ? is it fixible /spot repair ...without major replacements from what any of you can tell from pics that know better than me on body and paint i really dont want to make a claim....

yeah. you can do spot repair. ive never worked on a 6 but it looks like you an spot blend that fender to the lower body line below the vent. and paint the rocker.
They may be able to repair the fender by just loosening it up at the bottom(save time on prep). its a pretty inconspicuous area so a smart repair blend should be no problem without respraying the fender.
random pic a googled

So sorry to hear of the QuickJack fail. I'm glad that you weren't injured. Body panels can be replaced or repaired.
Good luck with the repair

it has 2 locking spots, the lower one was to high for what i was doing so i trusted them cause i never had any issues the few times i used them, MISTAKE! when the pass side starting bleeding down with the hood in my hand i freaked out , i was alone and grabbed the remote trying to raise it back up but that was clearly a bad choice, made a bad situation worse ,now i have a car with no wheels on it about to fall off the blocks on pass side and the pump part failed so it would not go down. keep in mind this happened in seconds so i put the wheels on faster than a nascar pit crew before it fell off , i was able to get a only foor jack i had under the rear diff trying to get it off the qj but it kicked the blocks up in the fender and fell, i just dont want no one to go through what i did or i would not tell my stupid move and story that tore the car up. ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT RAISE AND LOWER TO LOCK POS ONLY, just like the manual says ....... simple and common sence , cant and never will never forgive myself for this

I know this is old but I have quick Jack and always use the locks but wondered what was the cause of the failure?

i think maybe something was in the oil tank from production teflon tape maybe , i was taking the hood off and passanger side started bleeding down after 10 mins or so with the ratchet in my hand and hood in other , i went over the whole unit and flushed it out , i was not under the car , i use jackstands as a back up when the qj are locked to be safe if im under it, i have the car now doing some winter mods sitting with the tires a inch off the floor for a month or more now and in the past on the qj unlocked and not budged, just was a bad day and not a great way to start a build, $1600 mistake to repair but lesson learned ,

That's great. I'm looking forward to seeing it repaired. Is your car back together and tuned?

My car is doing great. Your Z06 exhaust is installed and working great. I also installed a dead pedal switch for the NPP and really like that. I did just install an MGW shifter. No SC or cam.... yet. I do desire more power at times but still trying to justify the expense vs cost.... you wouldn't understand, Haha.

Sounds good Dean. Sorry to hear about the intake issues. I'm looking forward to you getting it worked out.

I went the cheap route on the steering wheel and upgraded to a 2012-2013 for $235 from RockAuto and sold my 2011 one in the classifieds for $150 shipped.

Edited to say that I'd like to do the Dragon sometime. 🐉

You seem to be handling the results pretty well. I'd be crazy pissed.

My foolhardy mistake was kicking the hood support off the bottom post while pulling the radiator. Hood crashed down on me while holding the fans.

Shortly after that I saw a You Tube from C&S Corvette detailing how ofter people get clobbered by falling C4 hoods or the hoods catch wind and dropped. Advised to use a second prop. Of course I ignored the warning. So, you guessed it. I kicked the support out again this time bending the support and busting the headlight bezel! My flawless c4... and all because I ignored my own common sense. and I knew better. Freaking idiot. Best part? Me being eaten by a C4, had to look crazy.
