Have been using razor blades to remove the white paint on body, now working on bumpers and question is: can I safely use heat gun to soften paint or will it distort bumpers Also How do I address the nicks and scratches Ive put on body panel?
Unfortunately I can't help you regarding the urethane bumpers but I recall reading NOT to use any solvents on them. regarding the body nicks, you can use Vette Panel Adhesive (VPA) from Evercoat and it should work well.
Many years ago I too, razor stripped the body of my 76. It took a couple of days to get the entire body done. The bumpers were too flexible and the razor too sharp to remove paint by the razor method. I used a DA sander and the ole hand sanding method to remove the paint from them. The DA sander made the work go quickly. Chemical stripping the bumpers should be avoided.
