how would I get a straight line from one end of the tape to the other? Thanks

I may not be thoroughly understanding of what you're trying to do, but in a general sense, if you're "going crooked" with the tape, the tape, itself, will begin to wrinkle, indicating it's being pulled in a "crooked" line.

Run the tape quick without looking at every inch. Hard to explain, but if you try to go a little at a time it will be jittery. Just start one end and focus on the other end while letting it lay down. I do boat decals and stripping over long distance and thats how I get it to look good.

Ok I will try that. I bought the advanced dip your car kit because I have a widebody rear fenders color is machine silver metallic almost impossible to match and I don't like how it looks from certain angles. So I'm going to spray gunmetal from that tape line back to the fenders,bumper, trunk and roof.
