Hi-
I am a new ‘62 Fuelie owner. I am considering having PPF applied.
I am confused, however, in reading up on the subject. Am I correct in understanding that some guys apply ceramic coating on top of the PPF?

In many cases ceramic is indeed applied over PPF. The benefits are similar to when applied on bare paint, that is, enhanced environmental & chemical protection and ease of maintenance. Some PPF has a hydrophobic topcoat 'built in' such as STEK's DYNOshield & XPEL Ultimate Fusion. When looking for PPF installations, it's best to "shop the installer", not the brand of film they use. The key to a satisfying experience with PPF is due largely to the installation process and product support before, during and perhaps most importantly, after the installation. Ask questions, check references and go with an installer you feel comfortable with.
Here's a link to our PPF information page which can help in explaining a bit more about the PPF process and PPF in general: ESOTERIC PPF Information.
Hope this helps and if you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us.
Enjoy!

I did both. PPF on the entire car on my 67 Camaro and then ceramic over that. Looks killer, well protected and very easy to clean up.
.
A clarifying question please: You had paint protection film applied (the stuff that is a wrap and can be later removed and also will apparently yellow over time) and then applied cermic coating over that? Or was the PPF a wipe on coating and then you added ceramic wipe on coating on top of that? I am doing a lot of research to figure this thing out for my new car (which I pick up this week, YAY!!!). I am finding this a very confusing subject with a thousand differing views...
