What is wrong here? Trying to rebond the inner fenders on a ‘68. They are all the original parts that I removed to make repairs. I bolted the inner fenders to the radiator support to get a point of reference but, now there are large gaps between the inner fenders and fender and they don’t seem to sit right above against the surround. If bond to the fenders first I don’t think I’ll be able to bolt them back to the radiator support . Anyone run into this before?
Yes, both fenders are still glued to surround and we’re never removed. I did a quick test fit of the hood and seems it gets too tight around the radiator support area.
I did try that but, the shape of the radiator support mounts cause it to rock back to its current position. It’s been so long I don’t remember how the rad support was positioned when I removed.
I'm assuming the body was never removed from the chassis as well , If that's true then nothing has really changed apart from you "local" front area of work .
What about the frame extension horns , are they still in original position ? You are re-using the original hood as well ?
Using jacks and only having the same bolt firm on each side ,its possible to tilt the whole rad support "under control" the whole time so it stays where you want it . So you can get up and down 1000,s of times to check everything .
No, the body was off the frame and the frame horns have been removed, the hood is original. It done seem that the inner fenders should come forward a couple inches. If I remember the the cutout in the inner fender flange should be up around the side marker mount?
