Hi All,
Just finished spraying my '63 Convt. with Featherfill G2. For a little background, I was using a Fuji Mini-Mite 5 Turbine system with a Fuji T75 gun and a 2.0 mm tip. I reduced the Featherfill around 8 percent with acetone Going into block sanding, I plan to use Vette Panel Adhesive as a filler (if needed), but would prefer to re-spray low spots with Slick sand if they're minor. Are there any potential problems when spraying Slick Sand on top of Featherfill or vice-versa - Featherfill on top of Slick Sand? Since both are polyester fillers with the same hardening agent, seems it would be okay, but thought I would check if anyone on the forum has done that. The original color is black, so the final finish is rather "unforgiving" of minor defects.
First time painting effort here, so overall not too bad, but I can clearly see low spots and pin holes that need additional sanding/filling and re-spray. Thanks in advance for any replies. -- Doug
I was advised by people here more knowledgeable than I (and i believe) to do all rough body work with VPA on raw fiberglass, block, then Evercoat Rage Ultra for finish work, then G2 Featherfill, block, then G2 again, block again, urethane primer, sand, base/clear. I did this and my results were excellent.
I started with Slick Sand on doors, hood and decklid. But I switched to Featherfill G2 for the body. Overall, I felt like I had more control over how the Featherfill laid down.
