I got a couple of rock chips on the hood of my 96 C4. I tried a 4 year old Dr color chip kit and could not make it work. I ordered a kit from Touchupdirect.com. Torch red. I clean the chip with alcohol to remove any wax residue. I keep adding coats of paint but even after 8 coats I still see the dark bottom of the chip. It appears that no matter how long I let each coat dry that the next coat dissolves/ activates the old coats. I sent an email to the seller but have not heard back yet. Where can I buy touch up paint that dries and will not be reactivated. I have no idea what this blackish layer is. Do I need a special primer? Thank you guys very much, Dan
I would take it too a local body shop that you trust and doesn't want to sell you a complete paint job. Filling a holes like that and matching the paint color is not easy.
