Default gearing question(s)???

Hi eveybody.
i have a pretty general question...(yes, i did the search feature trying to resolve it prior to posting this.. )))

i have a 2000 coupe A4, 319hp/326tq at the rear, w/ 3.15's..tonight i tracked it for the first time..(awesome fun by the way...)

my 60ft. were all really consistant..so were my full runs (1/8mi)...had several people make statements about the consistancy of my little rocket...

my question is this: what could and or should i see by switching to 3.42's. would it make that much of a difference? in the 1/8th??? seems that all of the local tracks are 1/8th...
would it be really worth it??? almost a daily driver..weather permitting..
any and all input is really appreciated...thanks...

IMHO it is not worth the trouble and expense to go from 3.15s to 3.42s. There is only an 8.6% difference between 3.15s and 3.42s. You won't see that much of an impovement in your 1/8 mile ETs just swapping gears. If you are also going to install a high stall T/C at the same time the swap would be cost effective. You would get much more of an improvement by swapping your T/C for something like the Yank SS3200 than just going from 3.15s to 3.42s. If you just want to swap gears and stick with the stock T/C go with 3.73 gears. However you will get by far the greatest improvement if you swap both your gears and T/C.

thanks...im new to the vette and drag scene (first timer for both)...
i read alot of posts on the forum and i get confused...i've always enjoyed the open road...higher speed...type of running...now have a car that can really do it...hehehehe.....and feel safe...other than the LEO issues involved...
not really interested in a T/C swap...i like the current driveability the way it is...
just didnt know if a gear change would be right...

thanks..
dan
