I was expecting a little more torque. The cam specs are 246 248 613 615 with ET Performance 5.3L heads, Fast 90mm intake NW throttle body, LG longtubes. It does have 3.90 gears. It made 456hp and 408tq on APE's Mustang dyno. So I thought the #s would be higher on a dynojet.
you are saying the car made 456 hp on a Mustang dyno and 460 hp on a Dynojet. Also, the dynojet number is STD which means you prolly made around 450-455 SAE.
There should be a much wider discrepancy between those two numbers. The Dynojet reading should be about 30hp higher than the Mustang dyno.
I'd be very dissapointed in those numbers. My Cartek 382 4X makes 511/452 with less cam (http://www.cartek.net/images/jerryl_382.jpg.) In fact my Cartek 3X (346) made more power and torque as do many head/cam packages from the good tuners like Cartek, Vette Doctors or ECS.
Utopia,
Yes, my guess would be that your heads are a problem. It's difficult to get proper flow to feed the extra cubes with valve shrouding and other issues. I suspect you have too much cam as well; tuning may also be a factor. I notice that APE has your rev-limiter set around 6700 rpm. If you have forged parts and an adequate valve-train you should be able to spin it higher. Mine makes good power all the way to 7200. Give Dave a call at Cartek, he will be able to make some informed recommendations.
