with a '98 C5 m6: stock motor, heads, and cam, i want to swap the intake, which would be the best choice yielding the best results, the FAST intake or the LS6 intake?
You will likely be disappointed in just changing out the intake. In the Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance book, by Christopher P. Endres, a statement is made that the change out of the intake is the last mod to be done after H/C and headers. Until that point, the stock intake is more than sufficient to handle the air requirements of the LS1

If you have any intentions of adding a cam or heads/cam to your car, then getting an LS6 intake manifold is well worthwhile. The order that it's added is immaterial as the end result will be the same. If you're not ever going to add at least a cam, then save your money and keep the LS1 intake manifold. As already stated, the LSX intake manifolds aren't worth the freight unless you go with bigger cubes or a power adder, then a 90/90 setup is the way to go.
