Default How to Launch A4 with SC??

Hi:

I have a 98 A4 3.15 with a Vortech SC and RunCraps.
Can the experts chime in and give me a method to launch better (besides changing the runcraps...)? Should I use a lower PSI on the tires?

My times are:

rt .243
60 2.089
1/8 8.274
mph 91.15
1/4 13.356
mph 75.18

The 1/4 mile numbers are on purpose as this is a vert and was told not to go under 13.49 ...

Any info on a hardtop for a C5 is also welcome..
Thanks

i thought the new nhra rules let verts go 11.49 or slower.

He probably does not have a certified roll bar approved for faster than a 13.49.

Correct, I do not have any roll bar... But would prefer a hardtop since am not a fan of roll bars to live with (just MHO).

Thanks..

The NHRA has announced that some of the rules regarding roll bars and safety equipment have been changed for the upcoming 2005 drag racing season. First off the Hardtops will be able to run and dial in at 11.50 during eliminations and time trials. All other rules will continue to apply for these cars. Convertibles will go from 14.00 to 13.50 during eliminations and time trials for an eliminator. If a convertible is PURE STOCK it will be able to run up to 11.50 in time trials and on street nights, but it must be stock. No sticky tires, aftermarket bolt-ons, Nitrous, etc. will be allowed. Tech inspection will determine if a car is legal for the PURE STOCK rules. We will allow convertibles to run 12.80's or so as an example if they fit all the rules. The final say whether someone's car is legal and fits the PURE STOCK theme is totally up to the RP management. For more info on these and all NHRA rules, you should join the NHRA or purchase a 2005 NHRA rulebook

guess thats what i read and i guess a supercharger cant be hidden.

a 2.0 - 60ft on stock tires is really fairly good....1.9s are do-able but don't expect much better...

2.0X 60' foot time are about as good as you are going to get. The lowest I have run is 2.025, there was someone who made it down to 1.99, but that is about it.

My 2.025 was an off-idle launch at part throttle, then easing into it. If the track is running hot and slippery, I run with the TC on and just floor it at the third light. The only way to significantly improve your times are to change out the tires.

Sorry, I have about 20 passes on my A4 w/3.15's and I have tried about every launch technique there is.

Thanks for the info to all, guess tires are my next mod ;-)
I had also read about the 11.XX for convertibles, just failed to see the stock part :-( Guess by now there's not much point...

This is a great forum, with excellent people, hope to continue to learn more from you, Thanks!

I have run in the 1.8s with runflats. 3.15 rear end stock converter. I bet there are guys out there doing better than me. I get them very hot on the burn out. My car is basically stock with just a CAI, hypertech tune, and catback.

Ya, I do a nice smokey burnout and break torque it. I got a 1.90 60' on my runcraps. This was with catback, and vararam and stock PSI on the tires. I ran a 13.1 @ 106. And i have an a4 with 3.15's.
