1/4 time needs to improve

Just got a 98 vette and ran a 14.20 102 mph. I see some of you are running in the high 11's 110+ mph. What can I do to improve????

Before we can give you advice we need more info. However even without knowing anything about your car I can tell you 14.20 is sub par
if your track is at or close to sea level. A 102 MPH trap speed is in the normal range for a bone stock A4 with 2.73 gears.

Is your car an A4 or M6?
If it's an A4 which rear do you have 2.73 or 3.15.
What was your 60 ft time?
What mods if any does your car have.

AGREED...

A 98 a4 w/ 2.73's should be able to hit 13.6 off a 2.1 60 ft BONE STOCK on a close to sea level track...

Since you did trap 102 ( about normal for an 98 a4 ) the problem is more than likely not your car or your track....

It's your 60 ft....

The first time I ran my A4 2.73 2004 vette at the track I ran a 14.2

My second run was a 14.1

My best run on my first night out was only a 13.9

I WAS SOOOO DISAPOINTED

Then I came to this site and learned ....

-PUT THE CAR IN 3

-TURN TRACTION CONTROL OFF

-LAUNCH SLIGHTLY ABOVE IDLE

-TURN AC OFF

I went back to the track with these new techniques and cut a 13.6 at 103 my first run

Ended up running 13.5 Bone Stock......

I dropped a solid 1/2 second but just learning how to actualy run the car..

Hope I helped

There's no way your car in stock trim will run 11's...
You'll need to mod pretty heavily, then learn how to drive those mods....

I dynoed 299 rwhp and 309 rwt BONE SOCK on a dyno jet smoothed and SAE corrected....

All tracks are different....Stock 02 Z06's run 12.9-13.2 at 109-111 mph at my track...

My 13.5 will beat everything at my track Besideds Cobras (13.4 average) Z06's (13.0 average) Vipers (12.8 average)

To put the different tracks argument into a even better perspective...

I dropped a 04 LS6 head and cam into my Vette and a Vararam....Dynoed 345 rwhp totaly smoothed and SAE corrected and still only average 13.1-13.3 with an average mph of 106 mph......I have hit a 12.9 at 108.5 mph but it was a one time thing...Not an average wich is much more important...

At your track Id probaly be running 12.5-12.7 on average.

But he trapped 102....Wich at MY track would be average for a 2.73 a4 C5....So I beleave at his track he can pull a mid 13.
