Last week I made 3 passes in the 1/8th on my new motor. Each pass I stalled at 2000 rpms. I got the shift points right on the 3rd pass and turned a 7.13 153 96.4.
This weekend I turned a 7.13 154 96.99 stalling at 2000rpms. I made 4 more passes launching from idle and spun through 1st gear and turned 7.4's. I lowered my tire pressure from 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 lbs. It made no difference. I have the CCW package with ET Streets and skinnies. Could it be the cars going through the water, with their front tires, hurting traction?
Joe, you have to load the convertor or the car will spin. I leave at 2000 rpms also. Do a good burnout and as you come out of the water and the tires begin to grip, mash down on the pedal and make sure that the tires are gripping. That should work. That's what I do and have no problems launching the car. Tire pressure is pretty critical for me though. I normally run 15 psi in ET Streets. Hope this helps.
Dan,
I was hoping that I could launch from idle for better times. I guess not.
I have a line lock so heating the tires is not a problem. I'll try what you said.
I've noticed that the first runs are always best. A lot of guys go through the water with their front tires. That has to have some affect.
Thanks for the info and great runs in SC.
Joe
I have a 4000 stall. You and Danny both load the converter, so I guess that for racing I will have to. I was trying to better my ET's this past weekend by coming off at idle, but the track was nowhere near able to handle it.
