I have a 98 a4 with head/cam and 2800 vigilante converter and all the boltons. I estimate my hp around 390 @ the wheels with the converter locked. I dont know what the true percentage loss is in hp on the a4 vs mnl. WHEN DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH STOCK DIFF WITH STD SHAFTS. I HAVE A 342 LOW MILAGE UNIT AND OVERSIZE BOOST VALVES AND LARGER APPLIED VALVES(COVER) WITH SHIFT KIT. I HAVE 18X10.5 WITH SUMMITOMO 285X35X18 TIRES. WHAT ARE MY RISKS.

Depends on how you drive of course. I went thru two stock trannys with shift kits with only 330 RWHP. Looking back I think, all the manual shifting did them in. Now I have a PRM (Rodney) trans, he is on the vender list bottom left. If I where you I would start saving for other tranny. Just in case.
I like the RPM tranny!!!!! It shifts really fast and strong
When I had mine tuned I had the line pressure lowered due to it shifting too hard. I put the larger applied valve(cover) and oversize boost valve with a shift kit and deleated the shaft ball on the snout of the tranny. All this with the tune caused it to shift too hard under normal driving. normally when I "run" the car I leave it in drive and not manual shift. my tranny came from an 03 c5.

I though the stock diffs/shafts were fine until you went with really sticky tires i.e. Drag Radials. If the tires slip/spin during shift and launch, it is much easier on the drive train. The transmission itself is another matter, some people have better luck than others.
Very hard to tell.... I've read post of people with your Hp level last a very long time. If your tires hook up things will break....Normally staring with the A4 tranny. Nice to see someone from Jacksonville on here
I would add a DTE brace. You may still break but this significantly helps strengthen the setup. Most cars that start increasing the Horsepower add one. A good investment.

I ran my w/ 400+rwhp for 6 months w/ no problems, but just order a tranny from Rodney just to play it safe. I'd rather pay $1600 for a new tranny, than towing from the track ($500).
