Anyone check their performance with a G-tech from time to time? I ran my 1994 Camaro z28 at Lebanon Valley in NY a few years ago...and had the G-tech running at the same time to compare the slips and g-tech. Mine was within 1 tenth and 1mph...on a few runs. Obviously accurate enough for real world testing and tuning when a track isn't available That car ran a few 14.1's at 99-103 but I had dumped race gas in it and not retuned....and was running pig rich.
After some self tuning of my C5 with a wideband and datalogging (no timing changes, just AFR) I ran a 13.2 at 113mph...no tire warmup and a fairly easy launch on the stock clutch (with 110,000 orig mi on it). Obviously the ET should be much lower given that trap speed.
Mods are LG Streets (no cats), borla stingers, vararam, self-tuning.
What does everyone think about those #'s? I looked up various calculators on the net and they are showing anywhere between 327 and 380 rwhp....I'm hoping I'm in the 340-350 range.
I put my #s on power speed calulator and I get about 350 to the wheels so I dont think u have 380 RWHP. MPH if correct could get u about or alittle more than 327 RWHP as best I have got is alittle over 114 MPH.
Cool, so your calculator sounds closer to my "real world" results.
If you input my ET it shows way less HP, but that is due to the poor launch and babying the clutch...however the Trap Speed shows the "potential" hp that the car has.
350 I'm happy with....I still havent' been to the dyno yet...and I'm hoping a cam will put me in the 400 range...so I'm right on course.
FYI, this was at 90+ deg out...I would hope my ET and/or trap speed would be quite a bit better @ 70.
Yeah, the calculators are a little weird with my numbers. I weighed the car and it's 3200 on the dot with a 1/4 tank....I'm about 175lbs and it has 3/4 of a tank...so I was conservative with the 3375 estimate on weight...which would put me at 375 according to the calculator, and according to the MPH.....
My ET should be a second faster (or more) with my current setup...I don't think I'll get that off a better launch, but maybe....
I honstly do NOT think I have any more than 350rwhp.....I'm just trying to validate my hp without actually going to a dyno....it isn't at clean cut as I would like.
Just from a few cars I have had I would venture to say you are around330-340RWHP. I had a 95 that was 368RWHP and it ran 12.7@117. And from what I have seen most stock c5's are 278 (ballpark)RWHP. IMHO I cant see a 70RWHP with exhaust no cats, vararam and tuning. I have seen stranger things though!

I've got 368rwhp, ran 12.6 @112mph. Stock tires, launch sucks at 2.0 With me in it car weighs 3308.

Nope most Dyno in the 295-305 range. I Dyno'd 308.
I added MAF, Stingers and a Blackwing (This was many years ago) and Dyno'd 341. I also went from 109 traps to 114 traps.
i have the g tech meter and the single most important input is your weight!!!!.... you should get the car weight before using it...(its not the weight thats on the inside of the door...) i ran my fathers 99 vette and he got 283 rwhp....
I weighed my car at a local gravel pit that was supposedly certified within 20 lbs....and my car came in at 3200 EXACTLY with 1/4 tank of fuel. With me in it...now we're at 3375. George must be one tiny dude...I have no idea how the car and him can weigh 3308....maybe the auto trannys are lighter and he has an auto?
I think you guys are talking about two different stock hp dyno readings. Autos are 275-290 rwhp stock and M6's are 290-310 stock....from what I have seen and heard.
Aquaman and bluebomber are saying what I want to hear. 114 traps = ~341hp....I'm hoping my longtubes are putting me in the 330-340 range based on what everyone has said.
Now that will be putting me just shy of 400hp if I do a cam...most cams aren't giving more than 50hp from what I've seen...but I'm doing the underdrive at the same time which might be worth a little.
