Please stop this madness!!

We are talking about air flow!!!!!

To get the advantage of changing ANYTHING you must engineer what you are proposing to do.

To deliver additional performance from your engine there are the essentials which must be met. Fresh air intake, larger throttle body, larger intake, larger heads, matching ports (both intake and exhaust), larger cam to allow the additional flow through the valves and a restriction free exhaust system. As you deviate from these items your performance differences are less pronounced. Don't forget that when you increase flow you need to increase fuel or you will rum lean and burn pistons. So there needs to be a rewrite of the eprom. And not from a boxed vendor. Someone that has a dyno and the program for our cars and the knowledge to use it.

It's not as easy as it seems to do it correctly. It depend on how much performance you want. My performance adders have cost about 10K. The car goes 11.50 on drag radials. My tune is light and the boost is only 7#'s. If I had internals and a good crank we could be talking the low 10's. But that cost more money and makes the car not much fun on the street as a driver. So again it's whatever you want to do.

JUst do ALL of the right stuff and be careful, it will turn these cars into rockets!!!!

Not sure about the above quote but all I have is a Thunder cam, dual springs, Ls6 intake and a Vararam for a total of 2100.00 dollars spent and I am running 12.0's. So to each thier own. There is alot more to the equation than AIR FLOW, AIR velocity is critical also.

There are a few variables that are often forgotten in these kind of posts.
Combination of performance parts is crucial.
ex: The F.A.S.T. intake is going to help a modified set of heads or larger cubed motor MUCH more than a stock cid/headed 346.

Bolting on an LS6 intake is the same in that different mods will yield VERY different results.

So, they listed an 18 rwh gain. Was that done on a stock LS1/6? I highly doubt it. Doesn't mean they are lying, but most manufacturers utilize best case scenarios in their advertising by omitting ALL the details.

You lost me too. What madness needs to be stopped

I agree with ROJO. The benefits of the LS6 intake get better as head/ cam and exhaust performance is upgraded.

It was on a bone stock ls1. But i figured they over rated it just like everything else is. I have an upgraded cold air intake, and catback exhaust system, but i just dont know if $700 is worth 10hp or not.

It looks to me like the LS6 intake is very little gain, with the FAST being about 10hp on stock engine. Keep in mind, these are gross hp, rwhp will be considerably less. Here is the article I found this in:

LS6 intakes work good for boosted engines, they pick up where the LS1 falls off, right around 5000 rpm.

Here:
http://www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic10974.php

They tested the LS1, LS6, and FAST intakes. LS6 worked out best.
