Recently acquired my '04 C5 LS-1, auto. Would like to hear from some of you track worthy veterans on the best way to drive her. She has the 3.15 gears, FE3 suspension.
Competition Mode the best? Manually up shift? Launch rpm's? Tire Pressure? Basically stock except for ported & polished TB, K&N Intake system and Magnaflow cat back exahust.
What ET's should I expect? Should I stage shallow? Deep? My current reaction times are .050 - .067.
Brother-in-law has a '64 'Vette with a 383 stroker/4:11 gear 4 speed.
I have been told that I could hold my own with at the strip, actually have told I could beat him. This race will be at a sanctioned NHRA Strip, not street. Other than his stroker motor, he is stock (no suspension set up).
Will appreciate any and all input as learning from the vets is the best learning you can receive, other than my own practice of course.

Turn Traction control off - Launch in Drive - Launch RPM, varies according to stall convertor 0 RPM works fine - Tire pressure, varies per tires
Thanks for the input, I will get back to you with the results, I really appreciate everything you veterans do for us newbies. It sounds like the identical procedure I use for my SKY Turbo Roadster, except quicker ET's.
Traction control off. In comp mode if you want. With a stock HP car your not going to get out of shape on a good track. Use 3rd gear to race not overdrive as this is easier on the trans, greater hyd pressure on clutches. Remember to go around the water in the box. Stall the car to about 1200 RPMs, this will give you better reaction times than off idle. Try different stall RPMs to see what gives you the best ET. This should give you some 2.0 60' times and 13.0 to 13.20 ET,s.

I agree. Get some sticky tires though. Next mod should be a higher stall torque converter. With tires and converter you should pick up over a second in the quarter.
