I like keeping my car streetable.. and i'd like to thnk i pushed the limits of my street tires... I think i could have got a little more out of them 60ft wise but i'm tired of playing around with them... (FYI BFG G/F KDW 2.0)
Now i'm looking at nittos... I want to keep using my Thin spokes. but fear i'm going to have to give in and buy some different wheels...The reason i'm wanting the nittos is they need to be able to handle a 2 hour road trip and possibly rain.
stockwheels are
275/40-18
The two tires that are closest to what i want are
285/35-18 NT555R's (3% faster than stock)
275/40-18 NT555 (equal to stock size)
I really want the 555R's based off the praise i see them get over the 555's but then again it's not a perfect fit...
I want to be able to pull 1.7's or better in the 60'.
With my nitto 555s i had a 1.83 60' when my car was intake, headers, and exhaust only. At that time I only had about 4 or 5 passes ever on the track. Im sure with practice a 1.7x on the 555 is no problem.
Why not get an extra set of track rims and get some drag radials?
I loved my Nitto NT555's and recommend them to a lot of people. Only reason I don't like them for vette's is that they are W speed rated. I know that means they're good to up to 168mph, but what if I want to go faster? Anyway, the Nitto's hooked really well on my LT1 Camaro when it was a bolt on car. Not sure what the 60' times were, but the tires would just squeek and then hook. Got to make sure you heat them up!!! That, and the price is sweet, and the tread lasts forever!
