Default LG Pro longtubes VS Kooks

I know everyone favors LG's over everything else, but has anyone actually compared a set of LG pro's to a set of 1 7/8" Kooks? They're both 1 7/8" headers, both stainless steel, both come with 3" x-pipes..

Are Kooks that much worse than no one runs them? i've seen a few people on here running the 1 3/4" kooks, does anyone have the 1 7/8" version? Thanks

I don't favor LGs. I'm sure they are a very good product, but my Kooks have been trouble free and seem to make the power they should although with all the other mods Its difficult to pinpoint any one item. What I do know is the fit was exceptional, installation easy and the finish is more than satisfactory. After all that, they are however 1 3/4". Another choice might be American racing long tubes.....give the Vette Doctors a call

I just read on another site someone switched from Kooks 1 7/8's to American Racing 1 7/8's and there was about a 10rwhp/10rwtq difference between the two.

Note -- American Racing Headers owned and operated by an ex-Kooks designer. Wanted to take all the things Kooks didn't do and roll them into a better design. Give Nick a call and talk to him.

Checkout their web site, kinda cool

I've got the kooks 1 7/8's and put down 431hp. The shop recommended these over the AR's. But, maybe that's just because they had them in stock....who knows.

LG pros VS Kooks VS American Racing:

I guess what i'm wondering is all else equal (1 7/8" primaries & 3" x-pipes) is one brand really THAT much of a better performer than the rest?

I went with the LG's after I saw this pic of them next to the American Racing headers. I was very surprised to see that the primaries were so much longer on the LG's.

I'm running the 1 7/8" Kooks Headers on my car with the 3" Midpipe. I'm very happy with them. As a guy above me said with so many bolts on done it is hard to say exactly what I got from them power wise. All I know is I got 450rwhp on stock heads so they perform great as far as I am concerned. Also, Kooks customer service was INCREDIBLE. I bought my headers from a vendor and they did not have the installation kit in the box so George went in to the shop over the holidays on a day off to send me the kit along with some other goods so I could make my appointment to get them put on. It's hard to find anywhere like that anymore.

I knew the primaries were much longer in the LG's but I don't see where that makes them a better header. I'm surely not here for any arguement because I know they perform too but I just couldn't see where they were worth anymore money than the Kooks.

the longer primaries are where the LG's get their extra torgue. I'm not too concerned about torque numbers because nitrous will make up for that

I've got nitrous on my car also.

The Kooks look very similiar in length to the AR Headers posted up above. The LG's have the longer primaries by far.

Ive been told that the kooks 1 3/4 work better than the 1 7/8 unless you are going big cube or FI.

Very true!! When I purchased headers for my Ls1 car, I did all the research and decided the very very small difference in performance was not worth the extra $$ for the LG's. Then a Kook's GP came up and I bought them. Tuned to 341whp and 360tq with only a blackwing on an ls1 car. I have them on my Z too, they have been trouble free on both cars!!

Default What about the texas speed long tubes?

With the GP, they are only ~800 for the x pipe and the headers? They also come with the new dipstick tube and dipstick.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1605833

Anybody, compare these to the others, especially the LG Pro, they are virtually the same except better ceramic coating (it seems to me).

Please tell me Im wrong, I can take it, but I think for the price the Texas speed is the way to go.

I've seen the advantage of going to 1 7/8's on a radical H/C setups with a 346ci. If you're only doing bolt on's then yes I agree 1 3/4 are more than enough

I dont know what your goals are so I dont know whats best for you. If you go radical then the 1 7/8 may fit better. I didnt know you were going for an aggressive H/C setup.
