my mods, no mufflers, k&n intake kit, hypertech, zex 75 shot, bfg drags. i ran it one time on street tires and ran a 12.2 @119mph. this is with a 2.73 gear. Now for the reasoning....last year my buddy had a 2004 cbr 600rr and we raced from a 60mph roll, i won by quite a bit, now he sold that bike and bought a 2002 gsxr1000, i want the same results as last year. any ideas out there? i only have a limited budget so i would like to get the best bang for the buck.
Well if you beat a 600 by quite a bit only running in the 12s I would say your friend cant drive that bike. For the 1000. If he can drive it its a 10 sec bike easily. If your on a buget forget about it.
i raced him on a 60 roll, im not sayin i would beat him in the 1/4 mile, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any mods that are not outrageous in price. id like to keep it under 2k. i understand its not going to be feasible to beat his 1000 in the 1/4 mile, but on a roll with a 2.73 gear it is very likely with the right mods.
I guess its possible cause your friend cant seem to handle a 600 so I dont know how hes going to run a 1000. In capable hands a 1000 will break into the 9s in the quarter and wont stop til 180-190. Even the 600 will hit at least high 10s and 170mph. Assuming he can drive the bike I cant see it happening. But if you figure out how 2k in mods will beat once of the fastest things with wheels on the road you gotta let me know. Cause I sure have no clue how it can be done.
Here let me help you out with this. I myself outran a 600 with a good driver with only a 100 wet shot and Borla Stinger its not an amazingly difficult to do task. NOW as for the 1000 your talking about a totally different animal. With only 2k to spend youll proly start having to buy used parts to reach your goal and its gonna be tough. So here it is get a used wet nitrous kit run the 200 shot jets which will be pushing the car to the max anyway. You can find a good used kit for 500 dollars easily and you can sell yours for 250 no problem which will put you at only having spent 250 dollars.(1750 left) If you can do your own work this will save you some cash for sure. Get some used longtubes for about 500 dollars ive seen them on here every now and then so yes they can be had. Gut your cats yourself. Leaves you with 1250. GEt the largest cam you can find to work with those ****ty heads which should be around 300 dollars.(leaves you with 950) get a walbro intank fuel pump which should be around 100 bucks(leaves 850) get a mail order tune which I hear you can get for around 100 bucks by one of the guys cant remember who(leaves 750) you can find some 42 lb injectors for around 300 (leaves 450) dont hit the car with a 200 shot all the time for your bottom end will take a crap and so will your tranny also in the mean time invest in a tranny cooler also those are dirt cheap and you can also try a shift kit this should get you close to 575 on up if you do it right theres alot more left to be put in but 2k is all you got. I think with this you will be ok but the 1000 will most likely still put it on you those are not slow AT ALL Ive seen some 600 rwhp do it on videos but they have turbos or are blown if you do it right and he drives like a little girl you might get it done. Good luck.......by the way I would save some more money and get a used Blower and put down 600 to the tires as are so many doing now my thoughts
thanx for all the input guys. the way i see it is im not gonna bother with the 1000. power to weight ratio is in his favor by way too much. i am going change my goal this summer to running 11"s. 11.99 is all i can ask for.
i have run my gsxr 1000 10.43 at 139 and it gets better than 30 mpg around town. vette, na, far from stock is 11.71 at 117 and gets 13-14 around town, i'd say i would still have a long way to go to beat a 1000, but they are both a blast
Dave
yeah i can go and buy a busa 1300 for about $6500 and run 9's but you wont get the respect or the looks as you would in a clean c5 that runs 11's.
I have a limited Edition Busa & Procharged vette that runs in the high 10's. I get more respect with the Busa. No one really tries to race me with the Busa unless I egg them on vs the vette where everyone thinks they have a 10 sec car and wants to see how well they will do. Go figure
I have been roadracing my 01 GSXR 1000 since 01. It makes more HP at 5K rpms than the 600 makes total!!
Your best bet is starting above 90 mph. After about 110-125 mph, the bike loses its advantage since its CD (drag) is about the same as a pickup truck. So if you started at 100mph, with a 150 - 200 shot, you could win.
