i have a 02 z and i am looking to do a cam and LTs. for the cam i would like the x1 from mti but my goal is 500 rwhp i know that cam alone will not get me there. i am up for suggestions. i don't even know if that is a realistic # , but i would like to be close to that n/a..

H/C/I swap will get you there......

On a Mustang dyno with everything in my signature on a mild cam I put down 474.rwhp and 436rwtq and the clutch was slipping at high rpm's due to it being new.....on a dyno jet it will well be over 500rwhp.....doing that next weekend

I can be done all motor

You are gonna need a very stout H/C setup to get you there and even then you may fall just short. Make sure to consult whatever shop you decide to go with and make sure they are reputable.

Dyno numbers are only an estimation - like type dyno's will produce different results on the same car. It will be very, very difficult to produce 500 RWHP (n/a) on a properly calibrated Mustang dyno. The dyno jet will be your best bet to acheive those inflated numbers. The real proof is in the pudding - trap speeds will give you a good indication of the HP your motor is making.

500rwhp on the stock motor is not an easy goal.

You will need a good set of heads (TEA, ETP, AFR last choice), 1 7/8 headers, no cats, and probably something like a MS4, G5X4, there are alot of company's that make big enough cams.

A mild cam say 230/230 and there around is not going to make 500rwhp no matter what someone's dyno says.

my car made 507.9 rwhp on a DynoJet through 4.56 gears with a CARTEK 4X LS6 Ported Heads/Cam + Fast 90/90 + QTP 1 3/4" headers + True Duals w/Dynatech mufflers.

500rwhp is very achievable with the right set-up.

Car traps 131.48mph... so I guess the power really is there...

X1 doesn't even compare. I think that the X1 is a 228/230, I have not looked recently.

The MS3 is a 237/242, MS4 is a 239/242 and the G5X4 is right around here.

Like I said, lots of companies make cams this big, these are just some better known ones.

X1 will not get you 500rwhp, not even close. Its a tiny cam.

Actually your trap speed indicates more that 508 rwhp....but I'm not going to get into that debate again. The East coast DA does contribute to some outstanding trap speeds however.

Cause Michigan is tropical.
Any place with cool dry air at low elevation will give a favorable DA.
I think the driver, heads& cam choice, tuning, R&D,etc also contributed to some outstanding trap speeds. We see many h/c setups trapping around 120mph in the outstanding air that only exists in NJ.

Cool dry air!! How about the relationship to sea level....I think that E-Town has a much better starting point (DA) than Miland Dragway. It's amazing how a certain East Coast shop produce's such low HP numbers and is able to have trap speeds that actual defy the laws of physics....only in America....or should I say only on the East coast of America is this possible.

Ya,last week my car ran 134.26 and it makes close to 600 rwhp (DynoJet conversion from Mustang dyno). So if I posted on this form that my rwhp was 500 does that make it a fact or just. Just use a ET-MPH calculator....granted this is only an estimate....however, it's not off by 30%.

Dude, this isn't the first time this guys whined about the DA out East. If he did less complaining about the DA and more racing I'm sure he'd realize it is possible to turn good track times away from the East coast. I only wish we had the great DA every day like some people seem to think.

Cleveland just kicked Boston's ***. It seems like the DA wasn't favorable for that East Coast team....go tribe.
