Just got my gtech rr today and I took it for a spin. I ran on the most level road I could find and according to the meter I got the following results:
12.982 @ 112.41
2.219s 60'
4.648s 0-60
The trap speed is pretty much always higher than the speed you would get at a track and I think it is partly due to the track taking the average speed of a certain distance at the end of the track. Also, I arbitrarily set the pitch for the car at 2.2 degrees/g so that would probably affect it.
Has anyone set the pitch for their gtech to something more accurate with fe1 suspension? The top speed for each gear seems a little off as well. Could the pitch setting affect that?
I am pretty happy with the run but I'm not sure how accurate it is. The mods to my car are halltech stinger, magnaflow catback, xpipe, and removed pup cats.
My understanding of the G-Tech, and this is from reading many threads about it several years ago, is the ET is pretty accurate to within a tenth. There were several guys who took it to a strip and compared the GT results to the drag strip results. Each time the ET was within a tenth of a second and the mph was generally 2-3 mph too high.
It is a neat gadget that would be fun to rent, but I wouldn't want to invest enough money to purchase one as I would quit using it within a week.
They are cool little devices, I bought one back when they first came out and it still works like a charm. As others have stated, the ET is usually within a tenth or 2 but the MPH is higher than it would be at the track. From what I've found, the quicker the car, and the greater the MPH, the variance is more versus the MPH on the track.
I ran mine in every car I've owned, probably have 2 hundred runs on it. I've also ran it at the track to verify its accuracy.
It is good to compare before and after mods, just do a back to back run going the opposite direction to cancel out any variances in the road.
I really can't see how a Gtech can give an accurate reading that will be close to what you would do at the track. You wont stick if you launch the car on the street like you would on the track. So how can this little toy be anywhere near accurate?
HP is way off, and I have the weight dead on (weighed it at the track). The reason from my understanding is that it is taking drivetrain losses and all frictional losses (road, wind) into account. Plus it usually reads HP is 2nd gear wehre thers even more wind resistance.
Now it is very consistent with itself regarding any mods. Comparing the charts are a great way to see if a mod picked you up any power and how the mod affects your times.
I've asked this before and I'll ask again, anyone want to share files?

The pitch setting does affect your MPH more and the one time I went to the track I wasn't planning on it so I did not bring the G-tech. There is a formula for setting the pitch that is supposed to make it very accurate MPH-wise as well.
I just have the Z51. If I recall you are supposed to set the pitch factor to zero and then do a quarter run at the strip and use their equation to figure out pitch factor using the g-techs MPH vs. the tracks MPH. All I did was do a run and set the cruise at 100, 'running' through the traps going 100 mph, then used the mph the g-tech gave me and worked it from there. Not 100% right but closer than the factory setting I think LOL!
I'll send you some more soon of a 4.10 geared Camaro and an auto WS6. Also I have some of my buds turboed Maxima, some good before and after results from that one too.
