Default High speed question...

I've searched for an answer to this and can't find anything, so...

I'm talking C5s here. Suppose you're doing a high speed run and you have a blowout or hit an animal or somehow get turned around. Does anyone know at what speed the car would fly going backwards? They have nice downforce going forwards, but I'm thinking that if you got turned around at some speed, the rear end would lift off...

Just curious... thinking about the open road racing and am wondering what "could" happen...

Default It is...

a scary thought, but it happens in the cup and busch series, so I'm thinking... they have roof flaps and stuff to control it.

Should I post the question somewhere else??? Kinda new...

I wouldn't worry so much about getting turned around. If you blow a tire, ease off the gas and steer to stay on the road. DON'T make any sudden inputs. Don't start rowing with the shifter!!

Have fun!

I actually reposted here:

and got a lot of response... I've come to the conclusion that you're right and there's not much concern there. If there was, someone would have a story about it happening, but apparently it is not very likely.

Oh, It happens all the time! Well, at least once a year, but it is how you espond that reflects the out come. The tire tech guys are real good at keeping unsafe tires on the road. Old, worn, patched, weather checked or under rated tires are not allowed. My GF drove my ZR1 in the 130 class with a top speed of 155mph with no problem last year and had a great time. I have personally thrown the tread off or blown a tire at over 200 mph several times. The last one at over 205 mph. The car would have been fine, but the road made a sharp bend, and with only three legs, started to spin. We came onto the dirt sideways and rolled over.
I have pics, but I can't post, sorry
