So a friend's brother has a C5 M6 with intake and exhaust, not sure which kind but I'm pretty sure it isn't tuned. My friend approached me the other day and was curious to see who's car would be quicker. I have a 06 C6 A6 bone stock (haven't really gotten around to do anything yet). So just based on the information, or the lack there of, who would take the win from a dead start? rolling start? etc. To be completely honest, I have no idea and we're both just curious. I'm not trying to antagonize anyone, we're just interested. And, of course, the real test would be on a closed course. Thanks for any help.
I have a 2002 MN6 with LG Pro LTs, Vararam B2, GSD3 tires, and an LS1Edit tune (~350rwhp 360rwtq). While I've edged out a good share of poorly driven C6s, every single stock C6 A6 and MN6 I've encountered, driven by a good driver, has managed to edge me out in the end...sad but true!
After my winter mods though, that won't happen any more...
In your scenario, my bet is 100% on the C6 A6...as long as you can drive.
It will be close
My wifes car had blackwing, Z06 intake, ported TB, cats removed, 3.42 gears, a TC, 295 rears, and tune, and I beat my friends 06 auto by about 1 - 1 1/2 car lengh on back to back runs. He was slowly running me down both times and would have proably pulled me in another 200 ft. There's no question the TC was the difference since I SMOKED him really bad off of the line both times
She has since added headers and 1.85 rockers, so it wouldn't be a problem now.
From a dead stop your C6 should take him but from a roll it will be a closer race...a manual C5 (especially with a couple of mods) is still quite a strong performer on the highway.

Anywhere from 12.2s on up to low 13s depending on driver, location, weather conditions etc.

Motor Trend (I know, a magazine test) has the 05 Z51 at 12.6, and the auto roadster at 13.1
I do know that my buddys car's definitly not running low 12s!
Definitely a drivers race. I have my c5 M6 with only a catback and DR's down into the 12.6's on a decent weather day. With headers and a tune I would think a well driven C5 would give a C6 A6 a good run for the money.

You should win. The 06 A6's are quite fast...He could give you a run for your money though if he is a good driver.
I have driven both types of cars. My father in law has a07 vert A6, my dad has a C5 6sp vert with intake, exhaust, and headers and tuned. I know it's not apples to apples with your case, but it's close.
Personally, I feel the C5 is quicker that the C6. The shifts with the A6 just seem too sluggish to me, and my dad's C5 feels like it pulls harder through 2nd and 3rd.
Just my observation from two similar cars!! Only way to find out is head to the track of a "closed road"!!!
Type of intake and exhaust matters. Most CAI asystems offer zero power increase, and the same for catbacks. If he has headers and a Vararam that is a different story but I assume a catback so he would have to be an excellent driver just to run under a 13.0. Your car should be quite a bit quicker as long as you don't pooch the launch
