Default 2000 performance rear end advantages?

I just bought a 2000 coupe with and found it has the performance rear end, the 3.15:1 axle ratio instead of the standard 2.73:1 ratio. What is this doing for the car. How is it changing the performance, such as 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, top speed, etc compared with the standard ratio. Will it change the gas mileage at steady state hightway speeds? I am just really curious as to what makes it different from the standard ratio. All I know right now it that it is head and shoulders above my 1991 that I just traded in. Thanks, Henry

Default performance rear

Hmm, I have the performance rear in my 2000 and it is a 3.42 - wonder why the difference. And it is specified this way on the build sheet.

It's a six speed, right? They came with 3:42 perf rears whereas the A4 cars have the 3:15 as the perf rear.

From what I've seen, I think all of those times are high although the standard deviation between them is pretty close.
