How do you keep the centers from rattling as you go down the road? Sounds like jingle bells. My set is used, and the previous owner slapped a piece of duct tape on them. There's gotta be a better way!
It seems as though CCW has a huge problem with their center caps. I bought a set of 505A from a guy that only put a few miles on them and said they were brand new still. When I got them they had black electrical tape all around the center caps. I was pretty pissed but I had already bought them and nothing I could do about it. My brother-in-law is taking care of the car for me while in in the desert and said he pulled it out of the garage to idle it for a bit and one just fell out. I guess I have to call CCW and see what the nw ones will cost and im expecting to pay out the ying yang for them.
Use A Couple Of Small Dabs Of Clear Silicone Adhesive On Each Cap.... Wait For It To Dry And Your Problem Is Solved. If You Ever Need To Remove The Cap, Just Apply Pressure And Break The Silicone Seal. Dry Silicone Will Peel Off Easy Not Leaving Any Residue. Hope This Helps....jon
According to CCW they really don't make the caps for the Drag packs, thats what I was told. I used some hi temp fiberglass tape to keep mine from making noise. High temp silicone sealant should work just as well.
Silicone is very corrosive to unprotected aluminum. If the rims are clearcoated or painted that's ok.Just don't put the silicone on bare aluminum and forget it.The white powder you'll eventually see (I'm talking in a year or so) is the aluminum corroding.

Not sure who said this, but we do make the caps for the drag pack. Back in the day we did use some tape on the backside to make the cap tight in the wheel. We changed the designs some time back to where there is an oring that holds the cap in the wheel. This goes for our 1 piece wheels and 3 piece wheels.
Ok thanks Melissa! I assume it would require machining to get o-rings on my older set? Maybe duct tape is best after all, it just seemed silly to put that stuff on a $2000 set of wheels.

Most common forms of silicone have either an acidic cure (strong odor) or methanol cure (almost odorless). The acidic cure is corrosive to aluminum however the methanol cure is not and is what basically all 3pc wheels are sealed off with.

Chris if you take the duct tape off and there is a small grove machined twards the base of the cap the o-rings will fit right in. The previous owner may have lost them. If they don't yes they would have to be machined in order for the o-rings to fit properly.

Is this the right groove for the o-ring? If yes, is it possible to order a set of them? Thanks in advance.
I'm curious, that big groove must have been designed and machined for something, right? I wonder what?
I used the o-ring idea and put a rubber band in the groove, problem is solved. It will probably burn up and rot, but at least it won't be a sticky mess, and they're easy to replace.
