Last time I was at the track (Fontana 1/4 mile, Street Legal Drags) i was getting massive wheel hop out of my toyo T1R's. My toyos never wheel hop what so ever on the street. I tried playing with tire pressures and stuff at the track... didn't help. I'm going again next week for a private rental day and i'm hesitant to run my toyo's again.
Is it possible it was just bad track prep that day? (its been known to be not so great on those big street legal days)
I was planning on going to some Nitto R2's once these run out, but id rather not pay for tires when my current ones are still treadworthy.
Any thoughts?
PS - the only drivetrain/suspension mods to my car is that its lowered on stock bolts with a OZ700 single clutch.
Well according to your sig, you have 510 rwhp and trying to drag the car on street tires. That could be the first problem! LOL Get some ET streets atleast before you rip a half shaft out of the rear or worse!

Yeah, but i had the understanding that i would just lose traction (expected) but i didn't expect massive wheel hop. everytime i hit boost i had to let out.
Don't have any first hand technocal knowledge but I have seen threads relative to lowered cars and wheel hop. Lowering car changes geometry of drivetrain. Some feel that this can lead to wheel hop.
I installed the Prothane rear control arm bushings in my 2001 ZO6. The car was at 434 RWHP, since then I swapped the LG G5X3 114 LSA camshaft in place of the LPE 229/242/.630/.630/114 LSA cam. No more wheel hop!
My Friend has an 01 Z06 stock height and my 02 Z06 is lowered. His car Wheel hops really really bad, my car will hop when i hit second real hard like and break loose again. I run nothing but BFG G-Force KDW2 tires on my car. I suggest you try a pair.
GM says on their new CTS-V (and the C6 Z06) that they have eliminated wheel hop by making one axle stronger than the other (which makes each side oscilate at a different frequency). This is something I would be really interested to see someone try on the C5.
A lot of misinformation in this thread. Try a search and you'll find what you need. Zero wheel hop here on ET Streets, that's the key for the most part.

Yea I second that... et street, or full slick, no wheel hop
