Low temperature and low humidity. The best I could get out of an A4 w/3.15's, Halltech Stinger and a tune was a high 12.8's and that was on a cold late October/early November day and sub-2.0 sec 60'times on run-flats.

Any problems with traction in the cool weather? Runflats are hard enough to keep from spinning in hot weather.

I determined the best course of action was to do a burn out to warm the tires up.
Some people pump up the front tries and lower the pressure in the rear, but I never bothered. I also left slightly off-idle, just enough to load the transmission...like 1100rpm.
Ran a 12.827 @ 109.330 w/ A4 2.73, Honker, LG Pro's, tune on a mild (low 70's) day last year. No burnout, just quick spin to clean tires, nicely prepped track at private rental. No tire spin.
Hi Guys
just got back today from my first time out on my stock 2002 C5 A4 with 2.73's and run flats. Ran at Irwindale. Air was 2500 ft. Slight head wind
RT .712
60 ft 2.064
330 ft 5.826
1/8 8.911@ 80.10
Just took off the air cond, killed the TC and rolled out at 1000 rpm. Had a half tank and a 250 lb driver. How does that stack up for a stocker? Also who is a good tuner/ shop in LA? I have a LQ9 sitting at a machine shop gathering dust and I can get a stroker kit at cost. but Im not sure I really want to change the car. Lots of really smart guys here and could use the help. BTW did an indicated 160 in the dirt at El Mirage a few weeks back. Still cleaning the car. Looking for some kind of baseline/direction.. Gotta stay a DD though.
Thanks

That's not too bad a run, rough calculation puts that at 13.37 1/4mile time which isn't bad for a 2500DA. A stroker motor with a mild cam with make nice power and will not hurt the DD aspect of the vehicle.
After running and seeing some of the other times and wanting to do some mile and longer stuff, i had the shop start pulling apart my iron 02 6.0 block this morning and I sent them a 4 inch steel crank and a set of H Beams with ARP 2000 bolts. Waiting to see what the walls look like for the pistons. Talked to Mamo He says for a street car use his 225 heads..Then I have to worry about the trans. ETC,ETC. Told my wife this car would be just fine stock. This forum is the bomb. So what is about the limit on stock rear and trans anyway. Still trying to nail that down.

The stock A4 is not the most stout unit. I'm running 420rwhp and so far its held up pretty well. I have an essentially stock rear end in the car. The only exception is the hardened output shaft for the drag radial launches.
You may want to talk to a tuner or the guys at DTE and get their advice. If you are going to drag race, I would definitely suggest a hardened output shaft. You may not necessarily need it, but its not that expensive and it may prevent you from having to pay to have it towed home one day.
Depending on the mileage and how much hp you're looking at adding to your ride you may want an opinion on the tranny. I decided on the tranny upgrade but my car had high miles so a new tranny was definately needed. I went to an RPM level 4 tranny, new 3.42 rear end and new 2900 TC now I'm glad I did as I'm in the process of dropping in a 427 which will bring my RWHP to approx 500 or so.
Back to OPs original question; "What is best time I can expect to get with a 2000 A4, Vararam, tune, and 2.73 gears (if I were a good driver)?"
With stock 2002 A4, 2.73 gear, Blackwing CAI, on Kumho run-flats, my best 1/8th mile time was 8.82 (NRHA index equivalent to about 13.95 in 1/4 mile).
After upgrading to 3.42 gear, 2600 stall tc, shift kit, blower cam, 60# injectors, and a dyno tune, I'm now running 8.19 (NHRA equivalent to about 12.95 in 1/4 mile).
