I was at the local 1/8th mile dragstrip Friday night for the second time since getting a new rear end, transmission, blower cam, bigger injectors, and a dyno tune done at Thunder Racing in Baton Rouge. My ETs nosedived from 8.82 to 8.22 at the bottom end, BUT I used to be extremely consitent, but now am all over the map because my stupid Kumho EMTs just can't put 326rwhp to the ground. About half the passes I just wind up lighting em up and spinning about halfway down the strip. I'm in the process of getting BFG 295/35-18 drag radials; tires in the garage, but waiting for the new wheels. I did actually run four good passes, setting a new personal best; now 8.19.

Anyway, Friday night while in the staging lanes, another vette (black Z06) pulls up behind me. We started talking and it turns out he just had the whole thing redone to the tune of about $14K (new motor with big head/cam, new clutch, new rear end, etc, etc), done at XXX Motorsports in Pensacola. Says he routinely runs 7.30's and trying to get into 7.20's without breaking anything. Sure enough when we got to the front of the line (even though he was behind me and two other non-vettes beside me), they lined up us two vettes. I thought, "Oh crap, this guy's going to really embarrass me." I tried hard to tree him and launched with 0.0088 reaction, but he left me in the dust, like I was standing still!

Crap. Now I have to spend more money. Where will it end?

I'm going to get Andy's new V3 kit. He claims it should put me over 500rwhp. Hopefully, along with the sticky tires, that will level the playing field, at least with the other "street cars".

 

Unfortunatly there will always be somebody out there that has something faster. Mine is still stock for the most part so you are faster than me.

 

Man, aint' that the truth. Out of the guys I race with, I'm probably the slowest by a fair margin.
