I'm going to the track soon. I'm wondering if I should get these ruflats off the car. I can swap the wheels/tires off my 02' Camaro. They are 18" BFG GForce KD's which I believe have much more traction. Unfortunately, I don't have ET Streets or slicks for the car.
I did a practice run tonight on an abandoned road (it's about 50 degrees out) and the stock tires broke loose to such a degree that the car was going sideways in notime. These tires suck and now I'm thinking it would be dangerous to race with these on the car. My 04' CE coupe has 3.15's, Blackwing and cold air screens, that's it. But with the colder temps. it feels like a monster.
Opinions? Switch the tires? Is there a certain offset to worry about? Will they fit? The other wheel/tire combo is 18"x9.5". The tires are 265/35/18's. Thanks for any input!
I ran all last year on runflats. They are ok at the stock power level, but nothing beats a good DR. I run 17 inch MT DRs and I never spin at the track or from a dead stop on the street for that matter. I'm and A4 with LG L/Ts, vararam, offroad X, and magnaflow exhaust.
Run flats don't do well in cold weather. They're not much better in warm weather either .
Depends on track prep. I went to a rental with great track prep when it was 40 degrees out and I never spun once out of the 8 passes that I did. Cutting 1.8xx-low 1.9xx 60s. Ofcourse I lowered the tire pressure to 18. I'm also an auto so we don't shock the tires as hard as the stick guys.
