This past weekend forum vendor OC GM Performance held a Vette dyno day at their shop in Orange County, CA. I dyno'd my '01 MN6 coupe. The only thing I've done to affect the motor are a Breathless Performance Vortex cold air intake and Z06 Ti mufflers. Here's the graph:
Back in '04 I had the car dyno'd at a dyno day at LAPD, which had a DynoJet back then. Back then I had the Vortex CAI, but no Ti mufflers (not that I think the mufflers add any HP):
I think it's pretty interesting how close the two graphs are. People always talk about how wildly dyno readings can vary from dyno to dyno, but these came up with very similar numbers and four years apart at that! I had the car dyno'd back in '01 not long after I got it (it had the Vortex back then too) at a third shop and IIRC it put down 318, 325 (can't find the graph).
I've been told the cars pulling timing up top and I suspect it's got carbon build up causing some pinging. I run sea foam through it a couple of times a year and have an oil catch can, but I think it really needs a tune. That's gonna wait till the stuff listed in my sig goes on through
Almost forgot, I got some 1/4 mile times over the summer. Went to a private track rental at the California Speedway. It was my first time at the drags and I got in 7 runs. I think the elevation is about 2500' and it was pretty hot out (about 95). I heard guys saying the DA was about 3500'
My best time was 13.135 @ 107.37 with a 2.000 60'. I run OEM C5 Z06 wheels with Falken Azenis 615s (315/30/18s in the back).
I agree with your dyno comments about being consistent. I'm sure if they are calibrated properly including the weather station we should see very similar results, the only difference would be load bearing, inertia. I guess that is why the gains are the most important, that removes some of the inconsistentcies from one to the other.
