trying to make a run at a 9.x ET. dont think i'll get it honestly, but here's hoping. i know i can clean up some things...but not sure i can get that much trimmed. am thinking about ditching m12 and going with an t56 for the better 3/4 shift. not sure how much that would help.
I don't know of any manual car that has gone 9s NA that was full weight. PRAY got close. I'm sure others will chime in with details of his car since I'm not 100% sure on it.
Rob went 9s but nowhere near stock weight. PRAY was truly stock weight, passenger seat and all he took nothing out of his car. I think he would have done it too if he didn't have to sell his car.
I ran 9's with my Cartek 441 back in 2004 with 556rwhp through an automatic , it had some weight reduction , but wasn't stripped out . I think it weighed around 3300 with driver back then , now it's a pig at 3780lbs , but it still runs 8's . When it went 9's NA it was with a CCW drag package with ET Streets , QA1 shocks in the front , and the same Bilstein shocks that are on the car now in the rear .
what were some of the things you did to reduce the weight?
Lightweight battery , removed A/C compressor , not the ducting inside the car , just the compressor , removed passenger side airbag , passenger seat removed at the track , lightweight exhaust . Good luck with it .

I wouldn't change out the m12 or even think about it unless you had to and then make a choice.
The m12 launches so much better despite the 3-4 issue. I think it's a wash.
I ran 4.10 gears but had to bump my limiter.
Stock suspension with stock shocks will be just fine. I wouldn't waste money on that unless you wanted a nice set of coilovers for everyday use.
You will need slicks or drag radials. You'll have to see what your car likes best.
Weight removal:
I shaved 150+ pounds from stock.
passenger seat:32
race seat:~12
hood:10
drag pack:~75
front brakes:~25
But then you have to add back in other things like:
rollbar:65-75lbs
exhaust:~10
dte brace:~14
net:-60-70lbs
So with near stock weight and 550+rwhp you have a chance but you'll need to dial in the car and cut at least a low 1.4x.

I believe Rob runs a McLeod clutch, not sure which one though. One thing I can add here is that don't skimp on a clutch, get the best one you can afford. Its a piece of performance gear that is often taken for granted. One of the reasons that Gary was able to go 10's with a bolt on Z06 was because of the clutch he has. No power was lost due to a slipping or fading clutch. You need to get ALL the power to wheels. Good luck with your set up.
