Default My Dyno #'s seem low?

Here's my mods:

The first 2 on the list I got from Paintitblackvette aka Mr.PIB!

TSP 2.5 LS6 heads
224/230 Comp Cam 114 LSA think the lift is 585/591
LS6 Manifold
S2 Ported TB
K&N Intake
Kooks 1 3/4 headers with hi-flo cats and magnaflow
2800 Vig Stall
3.42 gears
Stock Injectors
LS2 Timing Chain
Melling Oil Pump

On a Dynojet she put down 391 uncorrected and 384 corrected. On the same dyno about 1 year ago she put down 340 corrected with just intake, exhaust and tune.

Based on reading other posts, I was expecting more. How can H/C only add 44hp?

One note is during the dyno pull the converted was unlocked - from what I've been reading this can cost ~20 hp???

Car feels strong and with an easy launch registered a 3.8 0-60 on the G-Tech.

I'm not that caught up in dyno #'s as the track yields the true results, but still thinking it's short!

Maybe 384+20 from the converter being unlocked (404) sounds better and adjusted for drivetrain loss (492) better yet, but still think it should have been around 420 based on what these parts did when on Mr. PIB's car - he made 430 on a dynojet.

Thoughts/feedback?

Thanks!

I wouldn't be concerned until you get it on the track. Look at the trap speed and that will tell you how much power you're making.

Post up the dyno sheet.

Seems low to me. How many miles on the bottom end?

I'd get those heads checked out. I know of two sets now of their "stage 2.5" LS6 heads being all screwed up and making less than a stock 243 head.

theyre not prc 2.5 heads theyre ls-6 tsp 2.5 and on my car made 387 rw on mustang dyno and i believe 347 ft lbs through a 3.42 gear and 3200 stall converted to dynojet 433rw and 390 ftlbs on ls-6 intake ran consistent 11.5's to 11.68 until i added 90/90 then 11.3's . in nov last year added 3.73 and 3600 stall and car ran 10.974 dec 5. alvetto has my complete older setup less the fast 36 injectors. without converter not locked up definately will show less rw and torque how much i couldnt tell you but look at my numbers compared to his. converter should be programmed to lock up when dyno tuning to get accurate numbers. i also have a vararam intake. the cam is .584 intake 224 and .592 exhaust 230 on a 114 +2 lsa

TSP is PRC just a FYI.

Sounds like your old setup ran well, my car is running TSP/PRC 5.3 heads that were bought by the previous owner and it runs pretty good. Would I rather have a different head of course but I will be making one more purchase and 215's aren't big enough

Hopefully will be seeing you at MIR!

youll be seeing me for sure. if you check the tsp website youll see the 5.3 heads and the ls-6 heads are different and the ls-6 usually made a little more power. on my tsp ls-6 2.5 i opted for the 2.04 intake valve instead of the 2.02 as i knew i would be getting fast 90/90 ported shortly thereafter

yes they are, the heads in question in the link I posted were the TSP/PRC ls6 stage 2.5 heads. PRC/TSP also quit offering the 2.04 intake valve, most know why though.

Have you ran in some decent weather with the new setup yet?

Why'd they stop offering it?

Anyone have first-hand accounts of the locked vs unlocked converter on the dyno?

His 430+ number is a theoretical number. There is no conversion for mustang to dynojet, thats a bunch of BS. Don't get caught up in those bogus numbers. The only numbers you have on those heads were the 380s it actually made on a dyno.

Your traps will tell you what kind of power your making. Go make a few passes and see where you are at. Who did your tuning? You can always have Kurtomac tune it.

TTP did the tune.

Car does feel nasty when you stomp on it, like you said...track will tell.

I made only 382 HP on that same Mustang Dyno and went 10.89.

Sounds like an honest reading Mustang Dyno to me. Rob made what 467 on that same dyno and look what his "turd" runs.

There's certainly no inflated numbers coming off of that super conservative dyno?

Dave,
You are right. If people are looking for great dyno numbers, I definitely would not use this one. Too many people loose focus on what the true use of a dyno is and that it is no more than a tuning tool.

ALVETTE00,
Your numbers do seem low to me also. This may be due to the tune.
