Default First time at Test n Tune

We took my car to the track last night for the very 1st time. Maple Grove Raceway. 3 passes and all were to focus on launching techique and not breaking anything.
1st pass was an embarassment, bog off line and 2 missed gear changes.
2nd pass was just slightly better, bog wasn't quite as bad as the 1st but the gear changes were clean. 1st, 13.8 @ 112 and 2nd, 13.1 @ 116 and that was it for this old guy. My son took the 3rd pass and put a whoopin on pop...

r/t .223
60 2.185
330 5.656
1/8 8.362
mph 90.72
1000 10.652
1/4 12.578
mph 116.77

Great times were had by all and I haven't been thru the lights since my old mopar days back in the 60's. I went out to the garage this morning and the car still has the smell of the staging area....
To be continued....
Oh yea.......9 yr old original run-flats

The ET isn't so bad considering your on run flats. However, the 117 mph doesn't really look right for a car making 446 rwhp. In my opinion that number is way soft, especially considering that your running on the east coast.

Keep talkin' that "East Coast" smack and I'll come over there and make a street tire pass that'll make everyone cry.

I agree the trap is a little low. I'm making about 40 more rwh and on 19" street tires trapped 128 at 11.2 (And with an epic chitty 1.9 60')

The reference to the east coast is in relationship to the DA advantage. Your DA is always good for that extra HP no matter the time of year.

Come on over here, you may be somewhat disappointed. We don't run in -2000/3000 DA air during the fall with a -2% track slop.

I don't think your 40 additional rwhp is worth 11 mph do you you? That 117 mph pass is way off for the supposed 446 rwhp his car makes.

I agree with all you said above. I was making a funny.

However, I've never raced in DA near -2000 much less -3k
The day I made that 10 sec pass was probably -800 which is still very good compared to some other parts of the US.

I think when I was making mid 400's rwh I was trapping 126ish. So I agree it is low.

All in fun here too. Sometimes it's good to have a little regional rivalry, that's what makes drag racing fun.

my 2nd pass with the lousy start, 2.4 60 ft and was just at 6600 in 3rd gear goin thru traps. My son made the up-shift to 4th on his pass but then he told me he short shifted to 2nd for traction. My brain-fart was tryin to leave at an rpm that is lower than the power band I'm making.
Was trying to sneak away coming out at 2000, 2200 rpms when I know my power doesn't start till about 2700, 2800. Duh...

I figured I'd be close to 120 or so...

Your trap speed would probably be faster if you had
gears, like 4.10s or 3.90s like these other guys that
are going in the mid 120s mph
