Default First time at the track...

MODS: ARH Lt's, Borla Stingers, Vararam, Ported TB (big power there) and a solid tune. 2002 C5 Coupe 6spd, 3.42s, Wide Ovals at 25psi (rear), 87°/high humidity...not sure exact DA.

Well...tonight was my first time running 1/4 mile ever EVER. I was hoping to get mid 12s which I think was a realistic goal. Going into it, I knew that my heavy wheels and wide oval tires were going to hurt, but I didn't realize to what extent (granted I have a ton to learn as a driver too).

First pass
60'.......2.006
1/8: 8.35
1/4: 12.92
MPH: 105.71

Second Pass
60'.......1.990
1/8: 8.23
1/4: 12.59
MPH: 113.47

Third Pass
60'.......1.984
1/8: 8.22
1/4: 12.58
MPH: 113.17

The 4th and 5th passes went down hill as I tried (failed) launching differently. Clearly I have a lot of work to do. I was having crazy wheel hop and spinning on launch and my 1-2 shift so I want to get that under control first. I'd like to get a nice set of wheels/tires so that I don't learn how to launch on street tires, then have to RELEARN on radials.

Anywho...it was a blast and can't wait to do it again. What do you guys think?

-Matt

Sounds to me like you have a pretty strong runnin vette if it was 80 degrees and you are on street tires. That would be a 12.0 car in cold air and sporting some ET Streets or the new Goodyear SS Drag Radials.

Google your track to see the track elevation. Here is a DA calculator http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da_rh.htm

Also there is a "Drag Times USA" that you can look up your track and the date\time you were running and get the DA the easy way.

Here is something to compare. My buddy's 2000 vert has headers, mufflers, vararam and a tune (6 speed), stock gearing and clutch.

So the D/A is in the ballpark of 2562 according to that calc. Can't wait to see what I can do with some better tires and more seat time.

May see an 11.9 if you can beat on that sixty foot and get some 40 degree air ! Good luck !!

he was running at cecil same track as me. One of the quickest tracks. but anyway.. Launching is 90% of the battle.. keep trying and start giving it more rpm .. also to help withwheel hop try 1/2 Tank of gas and lower stock bolts..... your in my videos when we raced the second time.. Be up tommarow

That is the goal! Now that my car finally has a good tune in it, the only thing that is holding it back is ME!

I think that second race was my 13.00. My first and hopefully last 13.XX.
