Cool shots and video Pittman! Ernie really really will be missed.
I'd always liked that car, especially once he'd put the automatic in it.
It ran real well for a mere heads/cam 346 and I remember him competing in the ASC series with the likes of Edgar, Jerry Land, Jerry Muniz etc with it and doing well.
When I saw him starting to sell off some wheels and other racing parts right before he moved down to SC I'd PM'd him about buying the car itself but he wasn't parting with that one, at least not right away.
Did he still have the blue car at this point once he got the '09 or was it sold? And if so does anyone know who bought it?
Not that any of that really matters now.

No, Ernie sold the complete package (truck, trailer, vette) to a dealer. The car got auctioned off for $9000. Ernie said he was going to buy it back when he got back home.

OMG! $9k?! That's almost a crime.
I wanted that car back when the price was in the $20k range, at $9k I'd be all over it, especially now so that a little piece of his passion can go on at the local tracks.
If there is any more info on the car/auction/dealerships etc please let me know ASAP, I'll buy the car even just as a tribute to/memory of Ernie.
Car was sold from a stealership in NC. With his drag pack and all to a local buyer I think. Dont recall the what the dealers name was.
Wow, someone got a nice 'ready to race' ride for sure.
I just did a search on Autotrader just to see if it's out there and it isn't, I'm sure the new owner won't be parting with it, especially if he got it at a great price.
Far more important than all of that though is that a great man is gone and will be very missed...I'd just read what Mike Siska posted about his wife/kids/grandkids and got a little choked up.
guys I never got to meet ernie but from what I can tell from reading all of your posts he was a great guy.i actually own the blue c5.Ijust found out today about his passing ,Im sorry to hear about this.
