Default G-Tech Meter Results

So,

A friend let me borrow his G-Tech Pro SS performance meter. After setting up the meter and fiddling around I made a couple runs last night.

My Best 0-60mph time was 3.97 seconds with a 12.61 1/4 mile (Traction Control on believe it or not)

My Best 1/4 mile was 12.31 Seconds @ 116.8mph (G-Tech are known to be a little off on the trap speeds)

Weather wasn't great, it started raining before I got my 4th run in.

Mods are pretty modest.

K&N FIPK II with cold air screen.
Magnaflow Catback with X-pipe
Ported TB

Tires were Bridgestone RE050A's Runflats.

I'm getting a ton of wheel spin hitting second gear, any tips/tricks to eliminate this?

I'll make some more runs today, but if you have experience with the meter, or just want to chime in please feel free.

Love mine. They are just plain fun. I have runs on mine varying from my boosted Vette, a turbo Maxima, WS6s, Mach1s, a Tiburon and many others, including a Sprinter Van

Have you ever tested the accuracy?

I havn't tested mine while at the track, but I have run it on completely stock vehicles that I had MT posted times (like my wife's C5, and my chevy pickup, when they were totally stock) and it seemed to be dead on. It certainly shows if changes you make in mods or driving technique result in better times
It has REALLY helped me fine tune my launches in order to get super quick 0-60 times
Love it

If you are on a level surface the ET is very accurate. My friend ran his TA at the track and if I recall it was within one or two hundredths. The MPH was a few off but there is a way you can correct that with the pitch adjust, have never done that though. I am bummed because my computer died and I lost a lot of runs and I cannot find the startup disc. I have the RR version that you can plot dyno graphs on the computer with and comparing vehicles and mods that were done are just too cool. I need to find a way to get it running again.

Up till now I assumed I had about 400 crank HP....running a couple times seems to confirm that is indeed the case. I've been botching the launches so with some more practice I'm hoping for a low 12 second or high 11 second run. I'm cutting a 2.1 60', I know the car/tires have a 1.8 in them. If I can get the launches down better, I'll get really close to that 11.9XX I really want.

IMO, the times are a bit on the fast side...especially the 0-60.

Probably not too far off tho.

The only true way to get 1/4 times, is to go to the track. I lol when people quote G-tech times as their true 1/4 mile times to me. In every instance I've seen, the g-tech times have been faster/quicker than when they go to the track.

I've also never had the car on the Dyno, so up till now I've had no idea what kind of power it's making. I knew it's faster than stock, but now I have and "idea" how fast it really is.

If I can run low 12's on street tires, I'm sure at the track I can run low 12's on DRs. I'm also a pretty damn good driver, and know the car pretty well.

While this is definitely true that they should not be quoted as track times, I think it is easier to get faster times on the G-tech. I get a bit nervous at the track, like it or not this will hurt the time. On the G-tech you can make back to back to back runs and as we know, practice makes perfect. I ran once on my g-tech (after the blower) and it netted me a 12.4 @ 123. I took it to the track and my first run was 12.4 @ 120, I was able to make another quick run and cracked an 11.9 @ 122. I always forget to bring the G-tech when at the track, although like I said previous my friend ran it and it was dam near dead on ET-wise.

Sounds like you had traction issues....120+mph should be a low 11 second run. Were you running street tires or Drags?

Pure street tires, Bridgestone Potenzas, I think the 60s were 2.1s (I know they weren't lower).

Yeah running an easy 12.3 with tons of wheelspin...makes me wonder if the previous owner did any mods I'm not aware of. I have to be making more than 360 rwhp. As I too am running Potenzas and they're runflats besides .

My best on the G-tech before the blower was 12.3 but i don't remember the mph. I ran a few mid 12s and tons of high 12s. I had 380-390 RWHP on all these runs. Including track tested 12.8s

I just thought it would be interesting to note that in ALL of my trips to the racetrack with my '99 FRC that I've owned for just under 2 years I have spent less money on trips to the track than it would cost for a G-tech. In fact, given my favorite track(Atco) and street car test & tune nights you could pay the entry fee 20 times. Averaging 5 passes per trip and you're talking about 100 passes at a REAL track getting REAL times for the price of a G-Tech.

Food for thought...

Lets get another plate.....

I live about 150 miles from my nearest track. If you can make it on a Wednesday you can get some good runs in. Friday or Saturday is usually a bike shootout or bracket racing. My last few visits on these days netted me 2-3 runs each. 20 dollar entry fee, figure around 45 for gas, plus on the way home I always stop and get food. I figure I'm paying about 25 bucks per pass. Oh, then you gotta add the cost of the helmet if you run 13.99 or quicker.
