my car is up at ECS getting an auto conversion and i am thinking about putting in a trans break while it up there. anyone out there using one on a 4l60? whats the procedure of staging/launching with it (car will have a 2-step)?
yea it was chris' idea, but after researching it seems it hits just as hard as dumping the clutch. the reason im going auto is to stop breaking **** and i think with the tb i will be back in the same boat. chris said the tranny and diff would take it without a problem but im still "iffy" on it.
excuse my ignorance...but didnt you only break once? I just see you keep mentioning that you dont want to continue to break stuff. Whats doug have in his car...1.2x 60s on the c5 irs is getting it done
Basically go into the 1st stage light and foot brake some RPM's. Press and hold the transbrake button, letoff the brake pedal and it rolls into the 2nd stage light. From there it's locked in and the car wont move. My 2-step is wired to the t-brake, so I can mat the pedal and it holds 3K rpm or whatever is set on the 2-step. Let go on the 3rd yellow or so and hang on...

Well we don't want to install a "trans break"!! We suggested a trans brake!!
The first one is no way near as much fun as the second.
How hard the car launches off the brake is up to how you set the two step, but either way, the car will not be as harsh as side stepping a clutch. When the car is on the trans brake, it somewhat binds up the car with a load, so when it releases it doesn't slam the drive train as hard as a side stepping clutch, yet gives great R/T's and 60' times. It's the loose drive train (no load) slam that breaks parts like a sledge hammer hitting it.
You can start with soft, 2k launches, and work your way up to what you feel is comfortable to the car, or yields the 60' your looking to obtain.
