hey guys i have a 04Z and my current mods are vararam and borla straight pipes..
i just ordered a set of OBX longtubes with resonators (no cats).. with the wide open exhaust can i expect loses in any ranges or should i feel some gains ..i dont plan on gettin a tune just yet but i will eventually..anyone have similiar setup with out a tune and noticed any differences after adding LTs ..
back when i had the vararam and cat back my car was traping 114-115 and after the headers it didnt change at all. after the tune i was trapping 116 constantly. oh and i still felt my car like stock even when i was already cammed. the only mod that i actually felt was the 4.11's. ive read a couple of post where people say that they noticed a big diffrence after the header and tune but like i said i didnt.
You will not see any gains on the track with headers and no tune. I was trapping 108 mph before the headers. After the headers and no tune, 108mph. After it was tuned, 111-112mph. You NEED to get the car tuned after adding headers. If you don't have the cash now, just wait until you do then put on the headers.
im not too worried about what i run at the track i just looovve the sound haha..i know ill throw codes without a tune but im not worried as long as my car doesnt run like crap..

It could end up running like crap. The a/f is gonna be outta wack.
The computer will relearn some but the fact that your rear o2's will still be on, and the computer will want to compensate for "wrong" readings won't help you at all. even a mail order tune form someone like Frost (he's on ls1 tech) will help. but not as much as a custom tune.
