Default Water Box

I am planning on going to the track for the first time this year. I have an 02 coupe with H/C, stall converter, gears yada yada. Anyhow I've only run on street tires, drove around the water box. I'm now on MT ET streets. Question is: do you guys drive through the water box and do your burnout or do you drive around it and then back in to the box. Intuitively it seems to me that it would be preferably to back in and not drag water up to the starting line.

Thanks.

Best bet is to back into the box with stock width fronts. Also when you say you're on mt et streets are you talking bias ply tires or the radials?

i would pull around, then back into the box.

usually, i pull around, back into the box, spin the tires quick, pull forward, do a healthy 1st gear burnout, then stage.

I have stock tires up front and I just drive straight through the water box. It has never caused me a problem.

I would back in also. But our track will not let me pull in!

I have the radials. Would be a lot easier to drive right through. Wasn't sure if it caused any problems.

Mine worked best at 18 cold. You may want to do some testing for your best set up.

Yep, went to the track tonight and did a couple of runs and took it real easy as this is a new setup for me. Ran pressure at 24 psi. Real gentle launches netted 12.02. I haven't been to the track for a year and a half so I even let off before I crossed the line. oops Haha, 1.88 60' at 115.6. Car has a lot left in her so I'm happy. I'll and run lower tire pressures and launch harder next time. Test and tune night. Thanks for the input.
