Default Stonabones Who???

Hey Guys, remember me? Stonabones 69 here... gettin ready to get back in the game and put up some bigger numbers thanks to a great team, Namely Mark Mastrojohn AKA TIRECRAFT... THANKS MARK… He’s been putting in tons of time and TLC so I figured I’d share some pics of what he’s been up to and where we are… While I’m at it – I’d like to thank some other key players… My badass boyz down at VIRGINIA SPEED ( Shawn Miller and Ed Hutchings) – They are currently building my new custom 440 inch tall deck LS2 with a 8xx lift cam and 13. x compression. They are hoping to have it on the engine dyno this week, so should have some good #’s soon… Terry Smith at JESEL VALVETRAIN for his countless hours (and mega brain power) on re-working our heads and dialing in the valvetrain geometry… Steve Johnson of INDUCTION SOLUTIONS for working his magic on our new Marcella Intake… The absolute best performance transmission builder in the world – RPM TRANSMISSIONS for their continued support and badass builds – they are currently faceplating our TR6060 6 speed… Kevin Smalley of SMALLEY AUTOMOTIVE for all his help and TLC with helping Mark and I with the build… and last, but certainly not least, the core members of our team- Rob Zona, Gary Hillen, Troy Nikola, Matt Hauffe (TUNE TIME PERFORMANCE), Dan Bergin, and Tommy Michalkowski… This ended up being a bit long winded, but I really needed to thank the people who are kind enough to help me out with Mine and Marks goals… So many people are making this not only a pleasurable experience, but sincerely making the journey tons of fun and camaraderie amongst good friends… So to everyone who has been making this happen for me, especially Mark… and very Big Thanks to all...

So, down to business… Here’s what we’re looking to do with our 6 speed C5 - 1.3xx 60 foot, 8.xx at 160 + mph…

Anyone care to guess what kind of Normally Aspirated HP and TQ #s (crank) we’ll soon be seeing down at VA Speed??? I’m curious to see how good your guys are at guessing combo #’s…

Mark and VA Speed thought that we might benefit from a new intake... So we went with a Custom Marcella intake and had Steve Johnson work his magic on the nitrous plumbing…

Next, feeding that intake with tons of air… Mark came up with a badass intake system design instead of the Vararam. Rather than just using the air from the two small side air ducts, his also takes the air from the license plate area and forces it all in…

We had an issue with tearing out our stock wheel wells when the 28" slicks expanded up on the big end leaving all our fuel lines exposed... So, we came up with some nice removable aluminum wheel well covers.

First, some brackets to secure to...

Next, the panels fit and fastened with some zeus fitting for quick access...

Then we made some panels for the back to keep the excess rubber off the mufflers and quarter panels… (we may have borrowed the idea from 4DRUSH… Thanks Jay ;-)

Marks thinking safety, so I guess he does like me after all... LOL… so we welded in a couple Kirky racing seats...

The engine bay before re-working to clean it up

Here’s where Marks starting to clean thing up.

More pics to come as we start getting things together… Hopefully soon, so we don’t miss the fall season altogether…

Looks good. Couple of questions. Is he going to market that air intake? Is the air filter any bigger than the Vararams? What hood are you going to use to cover that intake manifold? Good luck with it, you have assembled a great team.

The air intake is a one off part it is using the same veraram air filter . The size of the air filter was never the problem its the flat piping going to it that was the restricition. We have more than 5 times the air flow with this design .The upper part still needs to be fabbed but need the engine to be installed first. Were using a carbon fiber cowl hood . Hope it fits .

Wow, a lot of cool/trick stuff going on with that air intake and those 'Dzus fastened' wheel well liners. Dig that intake manifold too.
