Default PB today

Pulled a slew of 12.5's (good bracket car). The best being a 12.500@112.82mph. I was told that while in burnout box, my left tire started to spin, then stopped, then spun a little, etc. I had the traction control turned off, but I have a feeling that there is an issue with it and it is still coming on sporadically.. ? Is anyone familiar with this? And.. is there a way to disable the traction control completely? (Thanks).

if i recall you have a auto . . . putting your foot on the brake during the burnout doesn't help ya but, I try to stay over 5K - hit it pretty good in first and try to stop the revs before before hitting the limiter and then hit second. after your burnout is complete don't forget to push it into drive.

is that pretty much what you're doing?

Yes, it's an A4. I leave it in drive (3rd) and hold the brake just enough while letting em' rip. I had the gas pedal floored during the burnouts also.

try starting in first and bumping it into second and hold it there until you see smoke from both tires and you're good to go.

the DR's are warm and want to stick to the track

oh yeah!

Congrats

you might have weak clutch pacs in rear. a must to bring rpms up fast to 5500 spin a little, shift second back up to 5500 finish burnout and roll out put in 3rd then stage. have done a few incorrectly by bringing up rpms to slow and left wheel did not want to spin. tc off . nice passes i think etown is going to run a 12.5 index next year

Thank you everyone! I will try the advice given next time out. I've seen consistent 1.8's before I got headers, B&B Bullets and a tune, so this is confusing me. Especially since I'm using a nice set of Hoosier DR's in the rear now. Here is the slip (so close to 12.4! ):

r/t .052
60'.....1.943
330'....000 (wasn't working I guess)
1/8.....8.112
mph....89.20
1000...10.493
1/4.....12.500
MPH....112.82

Congrats. Air the Hoosiers up until you spin them. They are extremely aggressive tires.

Which was my next question... Ran mostly with about 28 psi in them. On the last run I lowered them to 22psi. Both runs were similar with the last being the best (on lower psi). Should I run these tires @ 32psi? I'm sure the mph would be slightly quicker, right..?

Generally, the higher the tire pressure that could be run without excessive spin will yield the better times. Changes in tire pressure must be adjusted to the track conditions and should be performed one pound at a time. The only thing you should be careful of would be the dreaded wheelhop. At your power level with an auto, this may not occur, but is possible at higher tires pressure. (ie. 28 psi) So to answer your original question, it would be best to add air if you are still dead hooking. You may have ran your best ET if the weather conditions were better or your engine temps were lower or you had less weight (fuel) than previous passes.
Let us know how you make out. Better weather on its way will give you that 12.4 and quite possibly a 12.3x.

Good luck.

Thanks. I tried to run the car as close as possible to the last time out (mods, weight, 1/4 tank of gas). The only exceptions being the cooler temp and the DR's. I picked up .13 and 1.5mph from last time out a few weeks ago. It was about 20 degrees cooler out. I'll keep the pressure up in the rears next time out though!

What PSI do you guys run your fronts at?
