Default TSP 228r

I'm planning my winter mods. What do you guys think of this setup? Thinking about doing:
TSP 228r cam
new pushrods
duel valve springs
LS2 timing chain
Ported LS6 oil pump
Possibly Milled, ported, and polished 5.3 heads or ported LS6 heads

My goal is to have a solid street car with lots of power under the curve. The car will see very little track time. I still want to be able to take cross-country trips and be reliable. Hopefully, with the heads I will be able to break 430 rwhp. Does this sound reasonable?

That sounds like a really good setup! It's pretty much the same set up I wanna do. Let me know if you go through with the setup. I'm very interested in the results!

I had a very similar set up on an f-body of mine and it dynoed low 430 rwhp with headers and cat back of course.

If you are looking for better under curve, I would suggest (slightly larger budget) some AFR 205 or 210's.

With the cam you have selected, awesome low speed manners & power, easily exceeding your top end goals.

Of course you know that a good exhaust system will be required so as to achieve your goals. Buy a good used set of 243's and send them to TEA for porting ($1,320) that should make for a stout performance combo with very good street manners. The TEA stage 2 heads are 63cc with the valve package and springs (assembled heads) included.

Thanks for the tips guys. The car already has longtubes, x-pipe, high flow cats, B&B Bullet exhaust, vararam, and a fast intake. I will most likely do the heads next fall. Right now I just want to do the cam with the listed upgrades and see how that goes.

I have virtually the exact setup you describe except that I have the TSP 224R cam. Don't know what the dyno said and don't care. Ran 11.63 1/4 on a 65 degree day here in Ohio. Currently swapping out the 224R for a custom grind roughly based on the Torquer V2.
