Default New bottom end

After having some problems with my motor I will be putting new forged rods and pistons in.
Not sure what caused 2 spark plugs to burn the tips off. After taking the heads off noticed both heads needed to be repaired. There was a few small holes between the valves. Also had some bent valves. The number 7 piston was hit by the valves at some point.
Interesting thing was after replacing the bad plugs we put it on the dyno and it ran good it made 456 and 409, a/f was good. But it keep stalling. That is when they did a leak down and several cylinders where leaking.
Also the timing chain was worn, very lose.
So I decided to take care of the bottom end also. I am using my stock crank and block. New forged pistons and rods. I thought about doing a 383 but decided to stay with the 346. Also going with some nitrous rings.
It is going to the machine shop tomorrow. I am hopping to get it back in a few weeks. It's been about a month so far.
It's been a headache. I actually thought of just putting a stock long block in and selling it.

382 here. the extra torque is what gets my tires off the ground and the consistent low 1.40's sixty ft add 100 n2o and 60 ft times are in 1.30's best 1.344 . imho stroking the motor is not a big expense since you have it apart and it will give you big

In the process of running a stock bottom end (346 ci) also. However, I am not forging it. Just dropping in a 2002 LS-6 and staying naturally aspirated . . .

Good luck with your build however you decide to go.

Are you planning any power adders? just re-read and noticed the nitrous rings. How much of a shot are you planning to go with?

200 shot would be the most.

I'd go with a 383 and TFS 225s or a 346 with a G5XX cam and 4.10s

I was in the same situation with my current build and did not know if I wanted to go with stock CI or 383.. Since I was going forged already, the extra cost of the callies stroker crank was a fairly easy decision @ only around 730.00.

But, now that I am going larger cubes, I am also going with a larger cam, blower, fuel system, etc.. So, I've gotten into somewhat of a snowball affect with my build. I am finally towards the end of buying parts, just need the new blower.

I am staying with the 346. Money is a big issue right now. It won't be just the cost of a crank, maybe new cam, maybe new injectors. new fuel pump. New clutch for the extra power.
It is always, well I am spending this much what's another $700. It never stops.
If I had the $$$ I would do a 416.
