It's been asked a million times, but when installing the mods the dyno operator left before tuning it. I have a 98 mn6 speed, it pulled 286rwhp stock. I installed Vararam and Power Duct, LS6 manifold, LG Streets and Xpipe, no mufflers, MAF screen removed.
So it runs very good now and I wonder what the RWHP should be? Is it unreasonable to expect a 45-50 increase in RWHP numbers?
I would expect approx 45 hp at the wheels assuming it is tuned. Guessing 330 to 335 RWHP.
The tech did take his laptop with the HP tuner program and plug in some new values using all the mods added to change it up to run better. BUT the guy who runs the dyno left before we were done so no after mod dyno was pulled.
He knew from previous C5's what they changed and how much to adjust.
All I know is its really a different running car with lots of new power! Even a week later this car is still running so fine! The rear tires may not be fairing so well.
Is it unreasonable to expect a 45-50 increase in RWHP numbers?
It's not totally unreasonable but I would think a more realistic 35-40rwhp might be more likely depending on the type of dyno used and the skills of your tuner.
I say 30-35 gain. It is a fact that louder cars are faster than quieter cars.
I KNEW IT, I bet thats an insiders secret in the ricer crowd, those guys KNOW how to go faster with noise like no one else, well maybe the Bubba truck crowd found it out. I hate being the last to know.
