I have a stock 2000 convertible. It has the 3 15 gears with the automatic. I ran it this week end it went a 2.29 60 foot with a 8.98 at 83 mph in the 1/8 mile. What will this cars run stock .When i try to take off in competitive mode the motor flutters. Thanks for any input
Each car is different as well as the track prep and the DA.
Keep going back and you'll see improvements. Try changing the tire pressures a bit. No lower than 25psi if you're on runflats. Bump the fronts up to 40 or so.
Where are you located and how warm or cool was it outside when ya ran?
As Capthuff mentions those will effect your results as well as the possible traction loss from those stock tires but I'm getting the impression that you may not have spun all that much. How you stage will effect your sixty foots and ETs, just barely trip that 2nd bulb on the staging tree when inching forward, don't roll any further.
You also mention Competitive Driving mode giving you a hard time, if so then turn it all (Traction Control and Active Handling) off as long as you have a reasonable amount of car control skill within you.
A bone stock C5 LS1 with 3.15s should run anywhere from a 12.8 to a 13.4 1/4 mile (roughly 8.15 to 8.60 in the 1.8th mile) depending on conditions/driver weight/fuel loads.

I drove the car about 40 miles to track. The temp outside was about 84 deg. I did not let the car cool down. You are right car did not spin left about 1000 rpms.Ran it with traction control off. Also tried to run it in competitive mode.In competitive mode when you try to build rpms the motor starts fluttering. My 2001 car will build rpms in comp mode.Just sold a c6 car with automatic it ran 8.70 at 83 mph.I have been around cars all my life and had some fast street cars 6.33 at114 mph on street tires. still have a fast 55 chevy.Should this car flutter in competitive mode when trying to take off fast. thanks alot for any input
Yeah that's what I'd figured, likely caused by a combination of stock power, hot coolant temps, warm outside temps and maybe even a somewhat sticky track surface.
Try to let the car cool as much as possible before each pass, especially after just getting there after a long drive on a warm day, hood open at all times when not driving/not on the track of course.

No it shouldn't, I've never heard of that happening. Building RPMs with a stock converter usually doesn't help much anyway with these cars so you might want to either leave Comp mode and just at (or slightly above) idle or as I mentioned above, just turn Comp mode off entirely (that's what I usually do in my C6) and try bringing the revs up again if you feel that yields you the better launch.
