I've run my car to low 10's on basically stock suspension (Z06 shocks and swaybars). Whats hodling you back is most likely a lack of seat time (at the track) and good wheel and tire package. With your hp level you are leaving a lot on the table.

Why would he install a 2.2? Doesnt kb have a 2.8? and whipple has like a 3.x I believe. Even with the whipple. Tell him you wanna do 5 runs. The first two are from 60-160. His car will be so heat soaked it won't even be funny. Then proceed to walk him. That's if his motor is still alive. Termi's are known for grenading motors for winding out 5th gear at WOT. Centri blowers FTW.

LOL, come on! Thats what I need to do... But he knows all about the heat soaking... I need to do what FartPipe says, tell him i miss-shifted my auto the first 3 runs LOL

Also, you're right on the 2.3, I had actually argued with my brother, he said it was a 2.3 and I thought it had been a 2.2. So I guess it was a 2.2.

On that run it was 1.64, his best ever. While he was pullin up to the staging line after the bunout, he opened his bottle so that the lines would no be purged yet, since it was the first run of the night on the N2O. Crazy thing was he was on MT ET Street Radials and it was axle hoppin all the way through 1st gear! He then tried it again later and spun alot harder and ran an 11.6@116. He has the overload springs removed, cut 10" off of each end of the center leafs (to get it that low), shocks off of a Timpte grain trailer, and home made long bars. His ALL MOTOR passes were consistent 12.2@108's with a best 60' of 1.700

11.5-11.7 with stock gears and sticky tires

Yea at the track, with a REALLY sticky tire! Them Mustangs with a stock IRS, IMO, won't 60' hard enough to do that. The fastest fully bolted Cobra on stock IRS we've ever seen at our local track was a 12.4

F#<k it just get sticky tires and squeeze a shot on him at the top end. Your gonna crush him outta the whole so he is gonna have to power around you, but he won't get around a little squeeze.
I'm in the same boat, my buddy has a built KB Cobra Vert with 700 million rwhp and thinks he is king shhhhh , but is scared to do anything but roll race. I just got my Vette and have got all my parts together for mild H/C/I package just waiting on a EPS cam. I should be about 440rwhp when done and can't wait to serve this clown in front of everyone at the track. Power isn't everything, they have to put it down, the more power the harder it is. Truth is just run your times and let him figure out how to catch you.

I see what you're saying, but the part of your quote I have bolded was you agreeing with me and not even knowing.

I used to drive a FWD Cobalt SS/SC. I would hang with and beat low 13 second cars ... from a roll. I was not the faster car.

It's all just a personal philosophy. For instance, in my eyes, all these high horsepower Supras running around that will spank your Corvette only after you've put 5 car lengths on them and they've finally spooled are not fast cars in my eyes. They are the epitome of inefficiency. Someone else may say, they are fast because they do have the ability to cut through the air at a high rate of speed. I believe it takes a little bit more to earn the title of "fast car".

Ha, go figure. And that's all I was getting at, was all the excuses. If you're car can't handle the power it has, then it's really not all that fast. I looks great on a dyno, but if you can't hook, it's an expensive paper weight. There are plenty of 900+ hp supras out there that will teach your car a thing or two ... once they spool and catch up.

That's just my own personal feelings and philosophies of racing.

The cobra guys around here will only do roll races with a one gear pull!

thats because they cant or dont know how to launch there high 11 sec street junk. i raced a rousch stage 2 cobra at a t and t a few years back with my old h/c set up he went 12.1 i went 11.4. put a blower on your vette and play there game (roll race) and youll crush them from a dig and a roll

We always called Supras "dyno queens", until one came to a track day and started running back-to-back 11s. Though, I am not sure why he had to trailer an 11 second car.

In case of Breakage. He may also have been running race fuel in which driving to track gets expensive.

Two weeks ago a Cobra wanted to do a run. I knew I would lose, but I thought it would be kinda fun, but this thing literally bent my car over it's hood and had its' way with my vette. My car looked like a 2.8 1986 Blazer compared to his cobra. After the rape we pulled over and he popped his hood, he had an upgraded super-charger(2.8 something?) cam, full-exhuast. He said they were putting 500+ to the wheels, I dont remember the exact numbers. I dont like mustangs, but this thing was a beast. Much respect. Dont race it, the terminator will make you its' bitch.
