Default how much will lighter wheels help?

i'm just curious if anyone has experimented with street wheels/tires and drag setup and seen what the difference was. i have aftermarket c5z wheels and just some general tires that are all pretty heavy, heavier than the stock z wheels im sure. i trapped 119mph, and was just curious if going with a lighter weight setup would help some. im going with a homemade drag pack. all bias ply and no tubes and aluminum wheels. im guessing around 50-60lbs will be taken off from the wheel/tire change. just hoping to squeeze a lil more mph out of the ole car.

It definitely helps, if you really are pulling upwards of 50-60 pounds out of your wheel/tire combo you should easily gain a full mph+ and reduce your ETs by well over a tenth, all else (weather conditions, track prep, sixty foot etc.) being equal.
In some cases, bias ply rear tires can possibly trap slightly lower than drag radials so keep that in mind as well.

i have heard that bias ply will lose mph but im hoping the weight loss will make up for that and hook like a **** lol my old et streets hooked awesome. i've also heard that every 10lbs unsprung weight is equal to 100lbs static weight. but i guess i'll just have to find out soon enough.

Well, it's not quite that much, but lighter wheels & tires (that also still hook) will make you quicker no matter what.
