Default 1/8th mile yesterday

So I got my vette a month ago about, so it was time to take her to the track. It is my first manual car at the track, I have well over 200 passes on my last car at this track but it was on slicks and an automatic.

A little background on this track, its a parking lot at the football stadium in San Diego, its the only track thats remotely close but theres no prep at all on this track so theres never traction. It is good for a little fun and to get used to racing but by no means are you going to set records here.

With that said I am fairly happy with my times, my best was only an 8.8 @87mph with a 2.3 60' at a normal track I wouldnt be happy with this, but I know at a normal track even on the horrible tires I am on I can get that 60' below 2.0 and with that mph I should be running 8.3-8.4 I need to work on my shifting a bit more before I spend the 5 hour round trip to a real track though. I was missing third like it was going out of style.

There was a c5z06 that I raced, only once and I won but he was having the same traction issues I was. There was a c6 that was in front of me and hit the wall hard, probably totalled his car. He was shifting to second and was in the left lane, his car pulled to the right and I dont know why he didnt get out of it but he hit the went across the right lane, missed the other guy and hit pretty hard. Shut the track down for about an hour. I had to abort 3 of my runs because of the same thing, shifting to second I would get no traction and the back end would come out, sometimes i was able to keep it straight, but if it even started going sideways or if i wasnt comfortable I would abort right there. My gf was worried because I was up for the first run after the c6 crashed and I did the exact same thing and my back end came out pretty hard but I got out of the throttle quick and everyone around her in the stands gasped thinking I was gonna do the same thing and end up in the wall.

Anyway I had a great time, met a few other vette owners and now I know I need to find some used Z06 rear rims and put some drag radials on the back before I go out again.

I was there, too...I had the black c5 convertible with the ZLR doors. Which one were you? Did you have the Icon jacket? My best time was an 8.5. Qualcomm is notorious for having traction issues, as the wrecked c6 GS unfortunately proved. Too bad we didn't get a chance to race.

ya next time hopefully I will have some better tires and we can race. Are you running your street tires there? how were you 60' times looking?

When I had my supercharged tibuon (fwd) i was getting 1.9's but that was with slicks there and it was a few years ago.

I think my 60' times were in the 2.2 range. I'm running 19" Hancooks in the rear, which was a major upgrade from factory. Oh, and I think my trap speeds were somewhere around 82-87 mph.
